I'm sure there were a few that said fire but they were in the few. Our criticism was still warranted IMO, we underachieved through 8 games this year. Most of us were very upset because we knew we had the talent to play like we have the last 4 games.
Good Lord, people, you DO realize this is the first big game this coaching staff has won in five years, right? We've had a lot of heart break in the past several years, and during the last two, we've seen what we felt was a lot of under achieving by the talent that had been assembled.
I think what the team has done the past four games pretty much shows we were right to be unhappy!
If this team had played (and coached) like this the whole season, I'm not sure they would have lost a game. All any of us wanted to see was the talent playing up to its capabilities. I think we knew if that happened, BG would get to the title game and at least have a shot at winning it.
And here we are.
Why anyone would be ticked off that fans might be passionate about their team not living up to expectations is a bit confusing. I don't think there's anyone who honestly believes that Toledo has a better football team than BG this year, and yet BG lost to the Rockets again -- at home. Let's not forget that it was following this disappointment that a lot of people were venting their frustrations.
And based on how this team is finishing, it would appear the fans were right to be upset. It looks to me like the TEAM was upset with itself after that game, and decided to do something about it.
Now enough of this nonsense: Go Falcons, Beat NIU!
