Wake forest
Re: Wake forest
I love Dave clawson for his ability to build a program. I still think if I'm a wake forest that Lembo is the more innovative coach.
I could see clawson sticking here for another year. He'd be a perfect fit at a powerhouse in the dumps. He'd be a great fit at Texas or Florida, for instance, but I'm not sure they'd take a guy straight from the Mac.

Re: Wake forest
Think about this. 2 wins, 5 wins, 8 wins and possibly 11 wins this year. Next year 14-0!! Now that would be the way to go out.

Re: Wake forest
It will be interesting to see how close we are to being ranked after the MACC...win our bowl and we close out the season on a 6-0 run. Finish the year 11-3 and ranked, bring back a ton of talent on both sides of the ball...that's a set up to score a higher profile gig after 2014 than Wake or even UConn.

Re: Wake forest
Or you have a nasty injury bug and finish the season 6-6, ask Florida about that this year. No guarantees in this game. I will be surprised if Clawson doesn't jump for a new school.kdog27 wrote:Think about this. 2 wins, 5 wins, 8 wins and possibly 11 wins this year. Next year 14-0!! Those who can't do, teach. Those who can't teach, teach PE.

I'll be hoping for this regardless of who is coaching.daspollak wrote:Or you have a nasty injury bug and finish the season 6-6, ask Florida about that this year. No guarantees in this game. Re: Wake forest
I think a lot of us are being realistic. If it's not Wake Forest, he'll likely be interviewed for other jobs and could very easily get hired for one of them. What he's done at BG is pretty impressive, overall.MarkL wrote:Man, based on this thread I swear Clawson is being introduced at Wake Forest right now or something ...
Let's just call it getting psychologically prepared, just in case.
Then, if he ends up staying, we'll be thrilled and can look forward to what he'll do with the team next season.
Re: Wake forest
This came across Saturday afternoon from CBS Sports:
"According to Jeremy Fowler of CBSSports.com, Clawson will interview in the next few days for the open head coach position at Wake Forest. In fact, Fowler also reports that Wake Forest athletic director Ron Wellman was believed to be in attendance last night at the Mid-American Conference Championship Game. It is very important to note that Wellman is a graduate of Bowling Green State University.
"Wellman really couldn't make a bad choice in this situation, but Clawson clearly has the momentum. His team has won its last five games, each by at least 17 points, and has scored 45 or more in four of those five contests. His win total at Bowling Green has increased from 2 in 2010 to 5 in 2011 to 8 in 2012 to now 10 in 2013 (which the potential for an 11th win in a bowl game). Given his history of rebuilding other programs, it's doubtful that Clawson's stock at this level could ever be higher."

Re: Wake forest
Better question is who will coach the team in the bowl game?

Clawson....
If he leaves, does Elko get the job...if so, it'd be great to see Nick Monroe get the bump to DC. If it isn't Clawson or Elko...DJ Durkin isn't doing any bowl prep for Florida this year...

Re: Wake forest
They should go after Coastal Carolina coach Joe Moglia in addition to be a head coach he ran Td Ameritrade and turned that company into a 10 billion dollar company from a 700 million dollar company he also turned record profits from 2004-2009 as there CEO
He also has a good FCS record they are currently in FCS playoffs for the second year in a row. This guy use to work 15 hours a day for Bo Pelini as a volunteer coach.

Re: Wake forest
Clawson interviewed with Wake's AD today in BG and a decision will be made tomorrow night. It's between Clawson and Pete Lembo.

Re: Wake forest
Just a quick thought. I know WF would pay a lot, but would Clawson really want to go through all this building yet again and so soon after hitting this success? Why not stick around a few years and enjoy what he's built?

A ton more money. It's that simple. I want him to stay BADLY because on paper, with what we return next year, with the staff back as well we should be picked to win it again. Selfishly I hope Lembo with his Elon ties wins out.MarkL wrote:Just a quick thought. If Dave does leave, I hope we can at least give Elko the head coaching job. Need to keep him around for defense alone.BGSU33 wrote:A ton more money. It's that simple. Re: Wake forest
If Clawson does leave, I hope no matter who it is, that they run and maintain what we have built because it is clearly working and nothing needs fixed or turned around. When have we been this balanced on offense, defense and special teams??? I can't think of a time ever in the 21 years I've been following BG football.jpfalcon09 wrote:If Dave does leave, I hope we can at least give Elko the head coaching job.
