Polls are out...wtf
Northern Illinois still in Top 25, BGSU getting points but not at top of the "others" list. What crap! Wasn't that a 20 point margin of victory?
There is no other way to finish a season other than yelling at the top of your lungs among BG's players holding the Peace Pipe aloft!

Very rarely will you see a team jump into the top-25 without getting any votes the previous week. The ranking is deserved, win the bowl game convincingly and you night finish the season ranked.JohnnySwoop '85 wrote:Northern Illinois still in Top 25, BGSU getting points but not at top of the "others" list. The longer the walk, the farther you crawl.

The Jealousy Awards go to Bill Blankenship (Tulsa), Matt Campbell (Toledo), Terry Bowden (Akron) and Ron English (EMU) who left BG off their ballots.
The Self-Promoter Award goes to Rod Carey (NIU), who was generous enough to list BG 25th but also listed NIU 13th, several positions higher than anyone else had them to inflate their ranking.
The Crack Pipe Award goes to Dennis Franchione (Texas State), who had Ball State 24th, NIU 25th and BG nowhere.
The Thanks for Recognizing Us awards go to Jimbo Fisher (Florida State), Dana Holgorson (West Virginia), Doc Holliday (Marshall) and Urban Meyer (Ohio State) for including the MAC champions on their ballots.
The Better Than Nothing Award goes to Jeff Quinn (Buffalo), who had BG on the ballot but ranked below NIU.

I'm not one to think one win should shoot you ahead of the team you just beat. BG still lost 3 games, I wouldn't expect BG to be ranked. If they beat Pitt I hope BG is right around 25.

My initial point wasn't so much about expecting BG to be ranked in Top 25, but a 20 point margin (could have been more if not for that gimme TD at the end) against a team ranked that much higher is in my opinion astounding.

You have to look at both sides of the spectrum.JohnnySwoop '85 wrote:My initial point wasn't so much about expecting BG to be ranked in Top 25, but a 20 point margin (could have been more if not for that gimme TD at the end) against a team ranked that much higher is in my opinion astounding.
Yes, BG looked like a top 25 team that night. But did they all 13 games? Probably not. That's one way to look at it. The three losses to sub-par teams is probably the biggest reason.
You also have to think that 20 point margin you're saying could have been larger also could have been smaller. If this or that goes NIU's way it's probably a 7 point win. I think outside of the "gimme TD" that lead wouldn't have been any larger than 27-28.
Credit goes to BG for Friday, but I think you're glasses are a little too orange at the moment from the great victory your team pulled out. If you look closely, I think you can see a thing here and there and see a closer margin of victory than a 20 point win you're saying should have been larger.
Good luck in the bowl.

Crapola. BG should be number one and playing in the God Almighty Bowl hosted by the Pope at the Vatican against a team of Tim Tebow clones.
