Studrawa for Head Coach!
Studrawa for Head Coach!
I'm starting this thread to support a proud alumni who deserves the opportunity to become the Head Coach of our great university, Greg Studrawa.
Many of us know him as coach Stud, Greg grew up in Findley down the road and played his college FB career in the Doyt. Bowling Green means more to that man than many of us could understand. He came back to coach BG when Urban first got the job. I had the privilege to play for him for 4 years, this mans represents all that is Bowling Green. His passion for the game, his players, and our university is hard to match anywhere. Coach Stud has done nothing but WIN his entire career as a coach. He has a national championship on his resume. He has coached for some of the winningest coaches and programs in the country. Respected by many of his colleagues and all of his players, Stud is what BG is all about, FAMILY!
His ability to recruit the state of Ohio would be unmatched, his ability to lead men is proven, his success is documented, his passion for the game is relentless, his knowledge for the game is incredible.
I have played for a lot a football coaches between 4.5 years at BG and 7 NFL seasons. I have never played for a coach that has what coach Stud has. This man is molder of men! He has taught me more about this game than any coach I have ever played for.
Greg Studrawa guaranteed has one thing no other candidate has, LOVE for BG! This would not be a stepping stone for him. Greg could be our coach for the next 10-15 years.
Lets show our support for Coach Stud and turn BG into a MAC dynasty!

Re: Studrawa for Head Coach!
I'm on board. His name was the very first that came to mind for me when the vacancy opened up. I have no inside knowledge, and I'm just speculating, but I was wondering if he left upset because he was passed over for promotion to head coach while he was still here. If he was, hopefully, he has gotten over it by now and understands that it's a different administration in place now than the one that he may have been peeved at.
Hopefully, his ties to BG would be enough to entice him to take the pay cut, if he were to be offered the job. I would have to think it would help sway any coach on the fence to know that they are coming in to a strong program with lots of top notch returning players where he can win right away, rather than be faced with a multi-year rebuilding project.

If he's interested in leaving LSU....you'd have to give him some serious consideration.

Re: Studrawa for Head Coach!
Sounds like he would be a good fit for our program. I also think if he was not hired that Mark Mangino would be a good hire he is an Ohio guy who can win and a MAC program would be a good fit for him to stay as a second chance coach.
Re: Studrawa for Head Coach!
I would be willing to bet that a pay cut would not be an issue for Stud. BG holds such a special place in his heart, no money or other job could compare. BG would be the only program I imagine he would consider leaving a national power for.

Mark Mangino...........that's a name I had not thought of. Him coming here would have to be conditional upon velour jogging suits of his size being available in orange.

Scott-
I agree with everything you say (except on little detail). Stud is from Fostoria, not Findlay.
Have you talked to him lately? Is he interested? I would love to have him back in BG!!!!!!!

Stud would be worth a look but only if he's interested in leaving LSU.

I wouldn't touch Mangino either...we went the "left a big school under a cloud" bit with Denny Stolz....it's a bad idea. No Tressel..No Mangino..no retreads who got booted from their last HC gig because they couldn't conduct themselves properly.

Not sure if I agree with BGbolt or not, but after reading that I'm definitely fired up! Where's the blocking sled? I need to hit something!

Re: Studrawa for Head Coach!
What were the circumstances behind him leaving BG as offensive coordinator to go to LSU as the line coach? I always assumed it was money but it sounds like money's not a factor. Was there a rift with Brandon?
Re: Studrawa for Head Coach!
Stud should have been made coach when Urban left.

Re: Studrawa for Head Coach!
Would have been out of line to promote him from o-line coach to head coach, over the sitting offensive coordinator. But, you're right, I think he would have been the better fit for the job.
