Watching the video about the monorail could lead to a game changing event -- a monorail would be an awsome idea for BG! Think of what a great recruiting tool it would be for prospective players. They could go to class, the stadium and get their shopping done at the Woodland Mall, all without the hassles involved with driving their own vehicles. The university could up the general fee for students or even sell P.S.L.'s at the Doyt to help pay for it. The idea practically sells itself!

Sarcasm aside, I add my voice to sane majority of posters in opposition to the ridiculous notion of hiring Tressel. Apart from all the valid character issues and other reasons that have been stated on this board as reasons for not considering him, have some honesty and acknowledge that the 2002 "national championship" going to Columbus was a joke. Had the worst call in the history of a national championship game not happened, OSU fans would be talking about how Tressel choked in the big game, instead of worshipping him as the hero that brought them a national championship. He had nothing to do with that ludicrous call........unless he offered that referee some tattoos in exchange for throwing his flag at just the right time.

Sure, he beat Michigan while he was there. So did Appalchian State.

No thanks...ever. The Vest can coach elsewhere when he's allowed.

You've not only seen, but have compared and contrasted every call in every national championship game? That's amazing. There were worse calls, or non-calls, in that game alone.

I agree that Tressel shouldn't be hired. I've haven't heard or read anything which suggests that he is a candidate anyway.

Let me re-phrase. The most CONSEQUENTIAL bad call in the history of national championship games. There's not one other awful call by an official that immediately changed the national champion from one team to another in the dramatic way that one did.

I will soon be publishing a hardbound book that breaks down an in-depth look at this subject, entitled "The History of Title Game Bad Calls In American College Football." Available at Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

I agree it was a bad call, because it was the wrong call. Defensive holding, which was originally signaled by the official, was the correct call. The effect would have been the same. Miami committed a blatant defensive holding, which wasn't called, late in the 4th quarter on 3rd and 6.

The worst national championship call I can recall seeing was the phantom foul that sent Rumeal Robinson to the line in the 1989 NCAA Basketball Championship game.

And to make this BG related...I have a strong dislike for Toledo, no Tressel, no Fickell, and Todd McShay picked BG with high confidence points in ESPN Bowl Mania.

A pretty compelling analysis if you watch it all the way through.

The way we finished the season, winning by wide margins, made stuff like this a non-issue. Let's hope it stays that way on our next trip to Detroit.
