Greatly appreciate hearing the opinions of former players...and it definitely speaks well for Studrawa as a person and a coach that you guys took the time to weigh in on his behalf. This is Kingston's first big move as the AD...while you have to recognize that it's his prerogative to conduct the search and make the hire he's most comfortable with, you would hope that a guy with a resume like Studrawa's would warrant some serious consideration.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

On paper, all of the names mentioned are technically qualified for the job. How do you distinguish between them? What are the factors that might differentiate someone and push them ahead of the pack? Should "loyalty" be prioritized over exceptional recruiting, motivational or organizational skills?

Head coaching is a different animal, but it's worth noting that both Stud and Durkin have been assistant coaches here in the most recent past and both left the farm for the sake of career advancement and more money (Durkin to Stanford, Stud to LSU). Would the head coaching title reduce the chance of a similar jump like we all hope and think it would?

Kingston's got some work to do to figure all this out.

Very cool to hear from a former player.

Concerning Stud...he may just be very happy, making $530,000 being the oline coach in a warm weather state at one of the premier programs in the country. Maybe the reason his name never comes up is because he has no intention on leaving.

Andrew,
Someone has already posted re: your appearance on AZZ...Hopefully, your mom is doing well. I too kind of miss her "Hart-Mom" posts. As to Stud, I don't think we could do any better, but Chris Kingston has a MAJOR decision to make..It'd be interesting to see exactly WHO has applied and/or been contacted re: the HC job.

So we have ten guys listed so far.
I would rule out.
1. Everybody not at a major BCS program already. There is buzz around this team and I think that a Hire from a well known school keeps that buzz (Rules out Scheier, and 3 Lower Division coaches).
2. I would rule out anybody who was a DC for a bad defense (Fickell out)

That leaves for me Durkin-McCall-Stud-Drayton-Ash-Wariner and Bajikan

Ha, my mom will get a kick out of the 'Hart Mom' thoughts, she is doing well and ill pass her everyone's hello. She always had a great time with the AZZ group! I will forever appreciate everyone making her feel so welcome.

From my impression i believe that Stud would definitely be open to the position and embrace an interview, but i have not spoken with him personally about it so i cant say one way or the other.

I just know that as a lifelong Falcon I would be beyond disappointed if he was not at least interviewed. We will never be an inside part of the process or know the exact details, but if an alum (Currently at least 2 qualified options) isnt interviewed or contacted it would show a complete lack of concern for input provided by those most invested in the program.

In my letter I made it clear that i am not trying to tell anyone how to do a job or that i understand the perimeters they have to work with, but hopefully the people making the decision are open to the idea and an Alum and will seriously read and consider our thoughts... I fear that some people may write off ideas that were not originally their own out of pride/ego etc!

All the best to everyone

Ash and McCall sound like names getting floated by agents in order to get raises for their clients. Drayton is a fine recruiter but the defending conference champions should get a coordinator at minimum. When Bajakian was the OC at Cincinnati he put up 44 against NC State when Kingston was there so that's probably how he first got on his radar.

Last year Kent lost their coach to a job that paid more money. They hired a well-known and well-liked alum (Paul Haynes) from outside the staff who had just one year of coordinator experience in the SEC. They promoted a position coach from the former staff to defensive coordinator to maintain continuity. So, hire Durkin and promote Monroe?

If he wants it he needs to be the aggressor and the initiator of contact. There's a lot of competition.

When Coach Stud was at BG he told a story about what a big-time atmosphere LSU had for night games. He was amazed when the visiting bus he was in was met with a live, snarling tiger and dozens of inebritated fans throwing things at the windows. It's funny that he's a part of that now.

On Twitter, Ryan Autullo is reading Wagner's latest story and thinking BG will go after someone with previous head coaching experience. This implies to him that we will look at the FCS ranks for a new guy.

He may be reading tea leaves just like we are.

That's been Kingston's m.o. for the previous searches he's run. One was just fired (Rich Ellerson) and the other went winless in the ACC which might give him pause this time around.

These three should always win out, I'd rather keep replacing good recruiters then loyal coaches that are average. Good recruiting will translate to consistent winning in the MAC.

That's not encouraging...

I would be fairly disappointed if Durkin, Studrawa, Bajakian, ect are not hired. I'm not really excited about bringing in an FCS coach. Just my opinion.
