MAC football laying eggs

Post by OSUFALCON »

NIU is about to go down which would make the conference 0-4.

When a 6-6 ACC team pounds our the conference champ with the best defense in the conference with over 200 yards rushing. How good was this conference this year?

Sucks to see this result for the MAC, but I only really care about what BG does. We had a shot at not only a bowl win but one against a BCS opponent and we came up short.
GO BG!!!

I'd say it was an average to above-average year for the conference as a whole.

The bowl games are brief snapshots with loads of extenuating circumstances attached to them. Matchups are also important and the MAC teams thusfar have had awful matchups given their styles of play.

The MAC and the big whatever have been pretty bad in bowl games the past 5 years.

Anyone with "OSU" in their name, should not accuse others of "laying eggs"!

The MAC has been 'pushed around' outside of the league for years. This year's bowl games have typified just that.

To me, it seems the MAC often does more damage vs non-conference teams in the beginning of the year when we're all playing non-conference games than we do at the end of the year in bowls vs those same type of opponents. Sometimes we seem to sneak up on some teams early on for whatever reason or we actually are playing more together out of the gates than some of them do. But it seems like at the end of the year when we're facing equally seasoned teams they often pose bigger problems.

I think you are right on, 33, and the reason is that the BCS type schools have the depth that overcomes the injuries that happen throughout the season. MAC schools typically don't have the depth to have players of equal abilit waiting in the wings. Maybe ability, but waiting that extra year or so to gain size and strength ......speed is in a whole different category.
