PJ Fleck is a good salesman...JD Brookhart was a good salesman when he was at Akron. We'll see if Fleck can coach better than Brookhart did.

Scout says we had the 5th best class....they list Tyree and Podbielski right now...I don't think dropping them will hurt that ranking though.

Looking thru the list of signees, I see, I think, about SIX different kids who'd been rated at 3* by one site or the other.... looks like what someone has already said ....we're going to have to wait to see who developes and who doesn't, as we're basically looking at a bunch of 18-20yr. old KIDS.

Perhaps some of the new car dealerships in Kalamazoo are offering "special" deals to some local college freshmen interested in the sport of football?? :-D

... unless they're also part of the sport of crew.... (think that one thru guys!) :)
 :-D We were taunting Western's women's basketball team last night with row the boat from the student section as well! Fleck may have the best recruiting class in the MAC, but he also has the easiest team to heckle!

I see we were 104th out of the 125 teams in our division. Not much has changed over the years. ](*,) Seven MAC teams were in the 100-125 range. Wake Forest was 64th. WMU came in at 55.

Those rankings don't matter. The small class is something they take into account. We filled some needs with some good athletes. Can't wait to see this offense with all the speed and the tall receivers we'll have this year.

I dont know about anyone else, but I'd personally rather enter the 2014 season as defending conference champions than defending a 1 win season with a top recruiting class and a coach who sings Row, Row, Row Your Boat.

I could be wrong on this, but IIRC, Phil Steele has had us almost perennially in the 75-85 ranks, Pre season...not sure if this is an evaluation of the entire team or not, but I don't recall us being ranked this low re: recruiting in many yrs. As I'd said before, we'll see how these kids do in a couple of yrs. before we pass judgement...Seems like Clawson and Co. went after perceived weakness or grad. loss replacements in going heavy on D players.. Makes sense to me.

Seems like we're in the upper 1/3 or so of the MAC...we got a guy in Lewis who could be an impact player come August and we restocked the secondary with some quality recruits. We also got a high end QB. I don't really care where we finished nationally ...when you're looking at recruiting lists can anyone sanely contend that they know the difference between 55 and 75 or 75 and 100?

WMU's clas looks great today...how many of those guys will make it through the clearinghouse and actually show up in Kazoo? How many will be there in a year or two years? Clawson was a great recruiter because he signed talented kids and had the system in place to keep them around. You can sign a boat load of *** players every year but if you don't keep them around the guy who signs the ** kids and retains them is going to kick your butt.

These rankings don't really matter IMO. I completely agree.

2010 recruiting class. Only 3* guy to make a real difference is Lynch

Funny thing about recruits' heights and weights........by the time they show up on the fall roster, they lose a couple inches and a chunk of weight. I'd bet most of those 6 foot plus DBs are actually under 6 feet. I hope I'm wrong but that is generally the case. I can understand weights fluctuating but reducing ones height is rather difficult for young men.
