Complete MAC schedules should be released any day now
Complete MAC schedules should be released any day now
If we're on the same sort of time frame as last year for the complete MAC schedule to be released, it could be as early as tomorrow or any day shortly thereafter. Last year they were announced on Friday, March 1st. I know we know who we're playing but I am very curious to see when so I can start looking into making plans.
GO BG!!!

No kidding. I want to see when homecoming will be as my October is generally planned knowing there will be a trip to NW Ohio.

Works for me.---- 2 September games and 3 of the first 6 home games in what should be good weather.
The November games are what they are-not much we can do about them.

Re: Complete MAC schedules should be released any day now
Here's my take on the schedule:
The battle for the green bowling ball opens the season. That's a game I'd love to see become a regular rivalry.
Two B1G opponents in September, one of whom we play at home. That's a really critical stretch to see if this year we make the jump beyond being good in conference and making a statement on a regional/national level.
I'm very glad we get a cupcake like Massachusetts the week after Wisconsin to open conference play. If that was a game against Ohio, Toledo, or Akron, we'd be very vulnerable at that juncture of the schedule.
Buffalo is most likely homecoming, WMU most likely family weekend. The middle part of the schedule is just like last year, very soft aside from the trip to Athens on October 11th. (I'm expecting the Bulls to be much worse this year). That means we should be 4-0 or 3-1 in MAC play as we hit the real meat of the schedule in November.
The trip to Akron is a big one, and I'm glad to see that game will be national because it should be, IMO, a battle that could have big implications as to who wins the division. The game at Toledo obviously needs no introduction. I'm very glad that game is in November again, it's been bizarre having it in September or October the past few years. The best rivalry games are the ones near the end of the year when a lot is riding on them.
The BSU game could end up being decisive too. The season starts soft, gets hard in a hurry, then soft again, before coming to a grand conclusion in November. I'm loving it!

You are correct on Homecoming being October 4th vs. Buffalo. However, Family Weekend will be September 13th vs. Indiana. Help us pack the Doyt at every game this year!

I know we can't control it, but FOUR weeknite games to close the season ? And a sixteen day break between games? Heck of a lot of travel for us out of towners on weeknites ! Looks like my hotel bills are gonna go up too.
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)

Only 1 weeknight home game. Works for me.
Other than Indiana not exactly an appetizing home slate. Miss seeing Miami on there.

We get Western Michigan instead of Miami. That's a wash in terms of win-loss probability, as BG will probably crush either team...but I see what you're saying. Miami is a name to most BG fans, WMU isn't.Falcon137 wrote:Only 1 weeknight home game. Works for me.

I am a little annoyed that the MAC office took away our matchup with Miami for 2 years though, right in the middle of their epic down cycle. We've beaten the Redhawks 3 straight and 4 of 5...probably would've padded those marks even further in 2014 and 2015. Full disclosure, I've always hated Miami more than Toledo, simply because I feel that there are deep socio-economic differences between most BG students/grads and Miami students/grads. The only reason I know to hate Toledo is merely geographically based. That being said, I'm still pissed that we didn't beat those bastards last year...only time we lost in MAC play all season.

I am also very glad to see we didn't move a home game to Columbus or elsewhere this year like we did two years ago. We tried it and that was a failure. I went to it but what a pathetic turnout in an attempt at stirring up some attendance. I get the reasoning behind it but we would have gotten that type of a crowd at least if not more back in BG. I don't care what the released attendance figure was, those of us there know how few turned out. Thankfully we'll play our home games where they belong - at home.

Selfishly, this doesn't work out well for me. I was hoping to go to the Akron game while visiting my mom in OH, but now that's out.
I also understand that they're running a promotion for the Ball State game on Nov. 28. All three fans who show up get a prize.

That Ball State game could very well be the championship game before the championship game....I think there's a very good chance we have a nice crowd for that one
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Has anyone traveled to Camp Randall? I think that's the road trip my group is going to make this year.
