How to know I am getting old: I am older than our new CB coach. He's a young guy!

As a HS Sr.. I think Mickens was a verbal commit to BGSU before signing with UC. Better late than never....

He should be able to recruit the state well.

Babers has structured his staff exactly as Art Briles does at Baylor with an extra assistant on defense. There's a walk-around coordinator and two secondary coaches. That leaves the offensive staff one short, specifically at WR where we run 4 wide sets with separate coaching points for inside and outside receivers. Through the Twitter and photo galleries it appears like former Houston player (under Briles, of course) Vincent Marshall is coaching receivers as a GA.

We had four GA's last year (2 offense, 2 defense) and at present we have three (2 offense, 1 defense).

The connections in coaching never cease to amaze. Mickens worked for Ronnie Lee as a DB coach at both Indiana State and Idaho. Ronnie Lee coached for years with Kevin Cosgrove at Minnesota. Kevin Cosgrove was the defensive coordinator at Akron in 2011 when our current defensive coordinator Kim McCloud was the DB coach.

Still no word on if we've hired a 4th graduate assistant coach. By means of comparison, Ball State has 4 on-field GA's plus a recruiting/operations GA. Akron has 4 on-field GA's, two quality control coaches and two strength and conditioning GA's devoted exclusively to football. We really need to keep up with the Joneses in this respect.
