The problem with that two deep is DT Colvin...LB Lynch and at east one other unnamed defensive starter wil be out. Dino Babers is like Sphinx when it comes to discussing injuries

Ick. Hate injuries. Especially that many of them. I think more and more college coaches are being that way. Why let the opposition get info "for free"? The NFL tacitly admits there is betting on games by the way they require reporting of injuries. I suspect the NCAA may get around to that if there's a scandal related to betting and injuries.Flipper wrote:The problem with that two deep is DT Colvin...LB Lynch and at east one other unnamed defensive starter wil be out. Wisconsin had an example of that before the LSU game when the staff and team knew Stave simply could not play, but everyone else thought McEvoy would be the starting QB because he was the better option. I remember saying in the Badger chat room that I expected Stave to make an appearance when the Badgers got behind because he was the better passer. Never happened and we only found out exactly why on the Tuesday after the game.
Here is a link to Wisconsin's game notes:

I can see why the betting line moved up from 17 to 26 with all that happening. Sorry about the injuries.

If healthy you could see BG winning at Wisconsin? They could be healthy and have Josh Harris and Cole Magner out there catching passes and they still wouldn't win. Wisconsin will pound the ball and wear out the front 7 of BG by the 3rd quarter. 34-17Falconfreak90 wrote:8 D starters gone from last year...but always tough as nails and physical on offense. That's where the biggest area of concern is...that back from IU torched us BiG time in the 2nd half. I can see a game similar to 2005...we score quickly and they run the same 3-4 plays every time. Swannie's brother said their secondary is really hurting this year with inexperience. We are gonna have to score often and somehow get some stops to have a shot.
If totally healthy, I could see us possibly winning...right now, trying to be a realist, we are hurting and it could turn ugly...games snowball outta control. At this point, I am very happy with the win over IU and will take 2-2 overall after these 4 games. Would love to see another win over a BiG whateverthehelltheyarethesedays and we have a shot. No turnovers, score in the red zone, get off blocks quickly and wrap up and tackle. Near perfection is the only shot cuz teams like this can have a few mistakes and still be in good shape.
The 8 MAC games that follow are 1000+ more important this year. Detroit or bust...

Badger8843 - MAC over B10 is always POSSIBLE. Nobody in their right mind would say it's a given no matter how good the MAC school is and how bad the B10 teams is but what MAC teams lack in Blue Chip talent they compensate with TEAM.
Regardless of the talent BG has the results against IU last week has the attention of the players and staff in Madison and there will be no mediocre effort from your Badgers. BG will need one great game Saturday to keep this one close enough to pull out a win. As always David will keep the faith that Goliath is over-confident.

Re: Currently Wisconsin -23 1/2
8843- Yes, if we were healthy, I believe we would have a shot at winning this one. Would we be a favorite? No, but a win would certainly be a possibility. With the ridiculous number of injuries we've sustained, we won't be fielding anywere near the team we expected to have out there this year. That's going to make it awfully tough to have a shot, but still not impossible. Yes, our defensive front may get worn down, run over and be unable to get stops as the game wears on and at the end of the day we may well be on the receiving end of a lopsided score, but the game still has to be played and sometimes they don't always go according to plan.
I can only hope your team shares your overconfidence, I would venture a guess that your 2008 squad was overconfident when they got it handed to them in Madison by an FCS school, If Cal Poly's kicker hadn't given the game away by missing 3 extra points, a lot of people would still be remembering that one. How about losing at home to UNLV in 2003? Did you think that was a possibility going into that game? Don't think it can't happen.
Speaking of 2003 and since you mentioned we would have no chance if Harris and Magner were out there, it is unfortunate that you didn't get to face that team. That would have been fun to watch. As I recall, that BG team defeated both Purdue and Northwestern that year (back when those schools were pretty good). In case you don't remember, feel free to look up what Wisconsin did against both of those same teams that year.

Well, perhaps you can call UNLV while you're at it. That's why I said if we were totally healthy, we could win. We're gonna have some guys that haven't played much. Injuries are part of the game so we to deal with it.

Yep. Total ambush in the rain and fog. The 2001-2003 Wisconsin teams were mediocre at best and darned awful on occasion such as against UNLV in 2003 or Indiana in 2001 and 2002.Falconfreak90 wrote:Well, perhaps you can call UNLV while you're at it. GO BGSU!!!
I really doubt this Badger team is that bad, but there is that possibility. Tomorrow will be a very good indication. We have done well against fast paced offenses under Andersen. We played two of the four fastest last year and beat both.
Even with the BGSU injuries, I'm not certain Wisconsin will cover a 26 point spread. I'll be happy to win by 14, or more, as long as the game stays in hand.
I'm also guessing BGSU runs about 74 offensive plays. Nothing like 113.

Looks like a chance of rain tomorrow which would benefit Wisconsin more than BG. We'll see if the weather plays a factor at all.
The longer the walk, the farther you crawl.
Re: Currently Wisconsin -23 1/2
Even if we are 100% healthy and Wisconsin is injured worse than we actually are, it is still a massive uphill battle. I don't see a way our D stops the run game long enough. The only way I see a win would be a shootout. But I can always hope.
