I'm not going to complain. This team is not perfect, but I like how they find ways to win tight games!

I will take a win - any kind of win - no matter how good or bad it looks. They kept battling even when things looked bleak and they certainly earned this one. Helluva win Falcons. BEAT OHIO!!!

The crazy thing is, we're about three plays away from possibly being 1-5 overall, 0-2 MAC right now. It just goes to show how EVERY play can count in close games. Our last three wins have all come by less than one score and a combined 9 points (3 vs IU, 5 vs UMass, 1 vs UB). If Lewis doesn't make the TD catch vs IU, if we don't get the fumble vs UMass, if UB doesn't miss the FG - we could been in a world of hurt right now. They say good teams find ways to win games. While I'm not sure I would label us that, yet, it needs to be acknowledged that these close games we're winning are exactly the kind that haunted us over the last fives years, including last season where 3 of our 4 losses were by a combined 7 points (3 vs UT, 1 vs Mississippi State, 3 vs Pitt in the bowl).

Being 4-2, 2-0 in the MAC is great and all, but it's not the only thing that matters. Completely disregarding how we got here is dumb. The way we're playing is not set up for sustainable success this year.

Here's the one thing I'll say. Look, we've had 100 injuries. It sucks. There's no way that we could have the same D we had last year. Fine, fair. But this is D1 college football. Our back ups should still be good enough to not give up 550 yards/game. We lost all these seniors and the seniors got hurt this year, okay? So what happens next year? They're all gone....

So what are we talking about? There's no excuse for giving up THAT many points and THAT many yards per game. An FCS school could play against UMass and not give up 650

And the whole "it takes time to learn a scheme" -- we're not changing our defense that much. We still run 4 down linemen. NFL teams switch from 4-3 to 3-4 in one offseason (3 months) and have players switching positions. We changed a philosophy, but nobody switched positions, nobody is doing anything different. It's still cover your man, tackle. Put your hand in the dirt, rush the passer.

I'm happy BG is 2-0 in the MAC. The end result is fine. But not understanding that you're not going to win every shoot out is just bad foresight.

There are no excuses for some of these penalties. The taunting penalty? The delay of game that took 3 points off the board and led to that blocked kick?

This is awful stuff. Glad we won. But this game should not have been this close.

The taunting penalties the last two weeks are driving me crazy because they both came after big stops, then we turn around and just give them 15 yards and a fresh set of downs. First off, no one should be taunting anyone, period. That is why it is not allowed and you will get flagged for it. Second of all, this defense shouldn't be taunting anyone no matter what. After everything it has already gone through, the last thing anyone on it should be doing is taunting anyone when you actually make a good play. The one this week on Johnson was much worse and more deliberate than the one the week before. These guys just aren't getting the message and that is extremely frustrating and concerning.

All that said, despite allowing a 200-yard rusher, we did "hold" Buffalo to under 400 yards for the game. While that may not sound like a huge feat, consider that it was almost half as much as we have been allowing opponents so far this season. Now, some of that may have had to do with Mother Nature yesterday. But, I'll take it whenever and however we can get it.

Those who are supposed to play next year have a year of fall practice, spring practice and summer workouts. When we push them out there ahead of schedule the growing pains are now exposed to the fans rather than to the coaches and teammates. I like how our backups have started to grow into their positions and all the experience gained will benefit the team. If the backups were ready they would have been starting or playing significantly from the beginning.
I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.

A good # of these backups haven't had the playing time and are learning on the fly. We gave up 368 yards to a pretty good O in Buffalo. UMass put up 38 pts on Colorado and 31 on Vanderbilt. Yeah giving up tons of yards sucked but the fact remains...score more points and you win. You seem to forget the fact we had almost 700 yards of O that day....508 yesterday.

You can't win around this place anymore. For all the sheet this team has endured this year, we ARE in first place. Take it one game at a time and see where we could be by season's end. It's also bad foresight not to see the D came up big yesterday when needed, which will build confidence going forward. THAT certainly matters.

Well..at least we don't have all the complaints about how we can't win the close ones...all we do is win the close ones. :)
