BG is 5-3 overall, 3-1 in the MAC for 3rd consecutive year

We're 5-3 overall and 3-1 in the MAC for the third consecutive year. In 2012, 2013 and 2014 we've had the same identical record eight games into the season. Granted, how we got there was much different each season, but one thing I will say about the previous two seasons is we played some of our best football during or right after this. In 2012 we were on a 4-game winning streak and increased it to 6 games before Dri Archer ruined our MAC title hopes on two long runs. But we rebounded and made a bowl (but lost). Last year we became 5-3 overall, 3-1 in the MAC after a pair of crushing losses, losing at Mississippi State by 1 then have Toledo stick a dagger in our hearts to come back and beat us by 3. But we responded in a HUGE way ripping off five consecutive wins en route to a MAC East Title and a MAC Championship (lost the bowl). Many of the guys we're counting on this season were a part of that team. What happens after this way-too long of a break will tell us a lot about our team when we play Akron. We're gonna find out November 4th if we have a team ready to fight or one that is about to fold. To say the Akron game is huge would be an understatement. The season is hanging in the balance right now. Babers said he wanted to challenge this year's team to repeat and follow up last year. We're about to see if they can rise to that challenge.
