1. Is it possible for Omar Jacobs to get any better? Most folks assume that he has to get better simply by virtue of him having a year of experience. But look at those statistics and ask yourself, where is he going to improve?

That is how I feel. It seems like everyone automatically thinks he is going to better his numbers from last season. When you think about it there is probably a better chance that he will not have a better season statistically. Numbers like that don't come easily. I feel like the offense can only be slightly better so we need to have a much improved defense if we want to be better in 2005.

I agree, it will be hard for Omar to duplicate, let along surpass his numbers from 2004. He had the advantage of a largely veteran offensive line and every receiver returning from the previous season.

I think you may see him running the ball more in 2005. Probably not as much as Josh did but enough to add another dimension to the offense. I think there was a real reluctance on the part of the coaches to put Omar in a position that might increase his chances of getting hurt. I don't believe they had a lot of confidence in their backups last year. With Anthony Turner available in 2005 they may be willing to allow Omar to run a bit more.

Isn't interesting that once we began the 2005 season, the first wrinkle gets thrown in - we're back in the East. Though that was expected, it's still the first "big" news out of the new season and one that will have an impact on how we do this year.

Man, I cannot wait for the regular season to begin!

i think PJ will run the ball alot more this season because everyone obviiously is gonna be keying in on the passing game and PJ has the skills and abilities to put up the numbers like he did against memphis in the bowl game and yes it will be hard to duplicate those numbers but if we aint kicking many field goals this year, that just means more opportunites and more touchdowns for omar and company

But Flippin, how many more touchdowns can we realistically score?

If you talk to Omar, he'll tell you that there are plenty of things he can approve on. Games where we think he deserves an A+ he'll give himself a B-. The kid will surprise you. He can get better, which is a scary thought...if you're a BG opponent.

Thats good that he's not letting his good stats go to his head. If he thinks he can still improve on that, more power to him.
Not to be confused with Poptartin
