212 yards rushing last night...

Post by Falconfreak90 »

BG has now rushed for over 200 yards in the last two games...212 and 219 at Akron. I love seeing this team run the ball down the opposing team's throat. We're supposed to be known for throwing the ball but we certainly can run it. Does anyone have a stable of backs like Greene, Coppet and Givens? Givens had 38 carries for 157 last night. So glad he is getting a chance to shine.

Givens had 38 carries. 38! That's mindboggling.

Going into the season it was the deepest position on the team and it's needed to be. Givens is the man but 38 carries is a tough ask for anyone. I'd like to see the freshman RB from Florida Brandon English get a few carries to relieve the burden...he's returned kicks this year and seems to have good shiftiness and speed.

Thank goodness we are so deep at the position and that Givens is still around. He would be starting for some of the teams in this league and no more than the #2 guy for the rest. After last year, it would not have surprised me in the least to hear he was transferring to somewhere that he could be the featured guy. Jamel Martin was a talented runner, but he saw the depth chart and I guess he decided he was tired of standing in line and didn't want to stick around anymore? I hate to see anyone get hurt, but glad that Givens has gotten the opportunity to get on the field and that he's coming thru for us. Running backs, by the nature of the position, are so vulnerable to injury, I guess no matter how deep you thought you were, there's always a chance it's not going to be deep enough.
