Is it Knapke or Callaway?

Post by slashba33 »

I know it's early, but does anyone know who is starting Friday by chance?

Knapke will be the starting QB

Coach said in the post-game press conference that Knapke is the guy. I'd bet we'll see Callaway get some significant time. We may need him in the title game.

You almost have to go with Knapke...if you start the freshman and then go to Knapke, you've already kneecapped his confidence. Give him a chance to make it work but keep that hook handy

They'll start Knapke, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Callaway on the 2nd or 3rd series and getting lots of reps. If BG were to play Toledo again, I like Knapke indoors going deep against the Toledo secondary. It's also time to start auditioning for next year's back up roll.

Johnson is the man next year, with Callaway, Knapke, and Nicholas battling for the backup roll and Morgan joining the fray to likely be redshirted and be the emergency QB.

Johnson (R - SR)
Callaway (SO)
Knapke (R - JR)
Nicholas (R-JR)
Morgan (FR)

Do we know for sure Johnson is 'back' next year?

I haven't heard a thing about how he is coming along.

Good point - I think we are stacked at QB, but a healthy Matt Johnson with this offense will light the MAC on fire.

He has said he is rehabbing and spring ball was his target. It seems unless there is another major injury he will be 100% for fall camp.

Kman gets the start but I fully expect to see Callaway at some point.
