BG vs Tenn Tickets

My Uncle and I went to the Wisconsin game last year, and although we had a great time, we were deep in the nosebleeds. From what I could tell, there were two BG sections at Wisconsin. Ours, being top row end zone, and then a different section front couple rows on about the 20 yard line BG side.
I remember asking the ticket office when we bought them where the seats were, and I got a reply of "Nobody knows until a couple weeks before the game". That's gotta be BS, right?
We want to go to Tenn, but is there any smarter way to buy tickets than what we did last year? Is there a way to find out where your tickets are at, or have the option to move to a better section? Just who was in that section down below? Family of the team? I'd like to support the BG ticket office, but if stub hub will show me where my tickets are over BG...well...

In the bigger stadiums it's best to just buy them from stubhub. The visitor section/s are typically in the least desirable locations in the stadium. There are exceptions as with anything but I like to know where I'm sitting and not rolling the dice.

1) guarantee to be seated among other Falcons
2) it looks good to bowl committees if we travel to away games well, and bowl committees measure this by how well we sell our allotments at other stadiums. This is ESPECIALLY true for bowl games. If you are going to a bowl game, BUY TICKETS THROUGH OUR TICKET OFFICE AND NOT THROUGH STUBHUB OR ANY OTHER RESELLER.

I've had pretty good luck with road tickets through BG for big name teams. Ohio State, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, were all good seats. Michigan, they were not.

Ordered my tickets for the game.

Ordered my tickets to the Opry for Friday night.

Reserved my room at the Opryland Hotel for two nights.

Then received the Alumni Association e-mail about a week later for their trip.

In 2013, UT finished 7-5, was the only conference team to beat the eventual MAC champion, went 5-3 in conference play, finished the season with a loss to an Akron team that finally found its footing, and did not get a bowl game. They were passed over by 7-5 Ohio, who went 4-4 in conference, lost to the eventual MAC champion 49-0, and finished the season in a nosedive losing 3 of the final 4.
The only measure I can see to say Ohio was a better team than UT was Ohio beat Akron and beat them soundly. However, Ohio beat Akron at the beginning of the season when Akron was losing to everybody. Akron beat UT late in the season when Akron finally found its footing.
Neither UT nor Ohio played in the conference championship, so neither was guaranteed a bowl game. So why did Ohio get a bowl bid and UT did not? Because Ohio fans travel better to bowl games than UT's fans.
So yeah, it is a big deal. In a year where we are not in the MAC championship and are on the bubble for a bowl game, attendance at previous bowls can be the deciding factor. Bowl attendance by a school's fanbase is measured by how many tickets of the school's allotment are sold. So yes, if you are going to a bowl game, absolutely buy through our ticket office. It can make a big difference.

But Mark, you have no proof of this. And no, Ohio does not travel significantly better than Toledo does for football. Besides the difference is negligible. Especially when you're talking about bowl games occurring in Idaho or Mobile. A few hundred fans...or even a thousand is not going to make or break a bowl committee's decision any more.

Ohio Athletics has regularly refused requests for actual season tickets sold numbers, and actual bowl game tickets sold. The dollar amount Ohio listed for ticket revenue for the 2013 Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl however, is the highest amount since the program established the PSOF.
For instance, Ohio sold only $1,960 in tickets for the 2011 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

The Rockets getting passed over by Ohio shocked many. The 'Cats struggled down the stretch, losing four of their last six, and getting blown out multiple times. But with a senior-laden team and a fan base known for traveling well, the people in charge of the Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl opted to go with Ohio in the end.

It's speculation but the reputation Ohio has for traveling well is what everybody was speculating when Ohio got the bowl nod and UT did not.

Yes, it can be that important. If you go to a bowl game, buy through our allotment and only buy elsewhere if our allotment has sold out. I also buy through our allotment for regular season road games, even when stubhub tickets can be so much cheaper. Having the reputation of a well-traveling fanbase can pay off.

Attendance in general anymore isn't important. Ya know...those Tuesday and Wednesday night games or a bowl game in the Bahamas. It's all about ESPN having something on TV and the sponsors getting their tax deals.

Nobody cares about if Ohio is bringing 1,500 fans vs Toledo bringing 1,000.

We have crummy home attendance let alone a good road following. I just assume sit in a good seat but whatever makes you feel good.
