1985 MAC Title team honored tomorrow

Post by Falconfreak90 »

One of my all time fave BG teams honored on the 30th anniversary. Mrs. Freak's cousin, Mike Foor, was an All MAC DL from 82-85.

OK,

I've watched these "recognition" deals thru the yrs and often wondered WHY we cannot name each individual quickly. We spend a lot of time talking about team achievements ( as we should) but I feela quick recognition of individuals would be great P.R.
Fully realize this '85 team showed up en masse which would've entailed an extra 2-3 min. Or so. Just feel we dont do a good enough job of mentioning the men who made these achievements possible. :-k

Agree, though the large number of names wouldn't allow for that during a short time out. That said however, they could scroll the names on the video board. That would give everyone a chance to see names they might recognize. I have no idea who was on that team, though I probably went to every home game and watch the bowl game on TV. I am sure I'd recognize quite a few names on that team if I saw them.

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

I can help you out with the QB :) But yeah, beyond that I don't know alot of names from that team right off the top either. That was just a few years before my time of starting to follow them. About 6.

You're probably the ONLY person in that stadium that could tell the name of every player on that team! Who was the QB? McClure? He's the only one I can think of that played a LONG time ago... :-D

Sean Dykes was a running back.

I knew girl that just loved Black Jesus - Joe Boxley. Think he was a wide receiver.

Gehad Youseff was the kicker (think he lives up in Toledo now).

And I believe Ron The Dream Ziehm played on that team (but I am not that positive).

Lol...well, not every player but quite a few. yeah, McClure was BMOC at QB. Stan Heard was an awesome WR, we had a solid RB in Bernard White and Gehad Youseff was the kicker. Had two Greg Johnsons on the team...one was an OL and the other was the punter. Also saw Kyle Kramer, Safety, who played until 1989 and was drafted by the Browns. He and his family walked by and I said out loud, "Holy s**t that's Kyle Kramer!" His wife turned to me laughing and said "It certainly is!" Met his family and thanked him for coming back to campus. Real nice people...

I get a big kick out of ANY former players coming back to games. Chris Pohlman was there as well and the 2014 season was his SR year.
