Had the Black Swamp not existed, Ohio and Michigan may have come to blows in the battle over Toledo and if that had happened, Ohio may well have won the battle, which would have led to Michigan having been forced to take Toledo within it's borders.

Ha! Or, as Lou Holtz once said: "Only twice have states gone to war with one another. One of them was Ohio and Michigan, where they had a boundary dispute over Toledo. That history doesn’t record who won the war, but we have to assume Michigan did, because nobody would fight to keep Toledo."

I think the Black Swamp Trophy would be a better trophy. Jokes aside, it has more local flavor.

The Battle of the Black Swamp and the Black Swamp Trophy are infinitely better. I think it'd make us look way better nationally too. When you hear "Black Swamp Trophy" it peaks your interest and makes you wonder what the story is behind it. The only response I've ever seen to "the Battle of I-75" from outsiders is people mocking the name. I'm all for the change.

Plus, if we get it changed we can spin this 6-game losing streak as Toledo being stuck as the only school to ever win the worst named trophy in all of sports history
