MAC Bowl Games

Post by apollo »

The MAC is off to a 0-1 start after Ohio's 4th quarter collapse. Which was amazing considering how bad App State played the majority of the game.

BG, UT, and WMU all have good chances of winning. NIU and CMU would have to pull off upsets to some degree. Akron will likely get blown out as the MAC East is probably the worst collection of teams assembled other than BG.

With as much money as these bowls cost the teams to attend, hopefully the conference can at least win some games. Nothing worse than losing a bunch of money because you can't sell your ticket allotment and then getting beat by teams that probably shouldn't be in a bowl game either.

I predict we'll go 2-5 with BG and Western getting wins. I think everyone else loses, although Akron winning would be the only thing that would shock me. NIU would be surprising depending on their health. If they have the same team they rolled out in the MAC C then they'll get beat easily.

Not sure what game you were watching but Appalachian State played good for 1 quarter and a few minutes in the first half. Ohio blew that game. When you have a 17 point lead with 13:00 remaining you should be able to secure the win. If you go by records then yes it was a close game and Ohio should be proud however blowing a 17 pt 4th quarter lead is bad.

Both teams had their little run Ohio at the end of the first half and Appalachian State at the end of the 3rd quarter and beginning of 4th quarter. Game was lost when Ohio settle for a field goal inside the 10 yard line and then their defense looked like a seive the last minute of the game Last point I want to make is Ohio was the fifth best team in the Mac while Appalachian State was the second best in Sunbelt. I'm not saying it's going to be easy but I like our chances against Georgia Southern based on this

If we can stop their run game I like our chances. They have played 2 games this year where they have had less than 5 throws. Even when they have 3rd and long they still run the option or reverse. Our linebackers will be winded for this game.

I agree, either team could have won that game. ASU completely dominated early but missed FG's and squandered opportunities had them only up 7-0. Then OU took complete control forcing turnovers and took a 24-7 lead into the 4th quarter but let it get away. The game came down to the final play and the score was decide by two points. Any time that happens, either team could have won.

I'm not concerned about giving up yards, they'll get their rush yards, we need the D to lock down the red zone and limit the big plays.

Ohio didn't close out the game. 17 pt deficit is nothing to App State and they are a solid team.

One thing is for sure, in its two years of existence, the Camellia Bowl sure has had exciting and great finishes.

Utah State/Akron and Temple/Toledo are today.

I thought OU and ASU had brief stretches where they executed well and long stretches where they were terrible.

Of course OU choked.... How in the blue hell do you let a QB loose on a 32 yard scramble that late?
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
