Perception often sets the value of reality. Few people wanted to play you because a win against you has no perceived value. Thankfully, a relatively small audience probably viewed the game and we're wiping the slate clean with a new coaching staff, so our reputation shouldn't suffer too much.

A new staff at GSU installing a more conventional system could benefit you in the long run by dispelling the notion that you win solely because you employ a freak offense

Our new head coach has stated his offense will continue to be the same, with an emphasis on improving the passing phase.

The "relatively small" tv audience was reported at 2.3 million.

My apologies to you for being a jerk, I was just so pleased, and surprised, at the results of the game I got carried away.

Again my apologies.

PX15,

Love that Favian Upshaw...haven't seen that kind of speed in a long, long time. Ga Southern is a damn good team with a winning tradition. I remember watching you guys win the 1-AA, or FCS titles on yearly basis. Ga is a hotbed for recruiting as well. Congrats on rolling us in the 2nd half.

What did I see out of BG? The coaches were too busy calling Syracuse recruits and shopping for new homes in NY to care. And the team followed their cue. I was surprised we were ahead at the half.
This is what I hate about college football. Stay and FINISH the job before moving on.

Hope you guys have a great 2016 season.

Yep, at the first sign of adversity the guys picked up their bags and wanted to go home. Not surprising given the circumstances, but I was disappointed there wasn't more resolve from the leaders on the team. GSU deserves a lot of credit in staying focused but they seemed to be much more keyed up for the game. I also believe the defense got simply worn down and weren't disciplined enough to commit to staying in their lanes and making plays. They did for largely a quarter and then kind of stopped.

Let it go people. I knew GaSo would be tough having followed them for the past couple of years. Throw in Rain for 1000 miles, 28 hours in the car, half of which was with a gloating daughter and this game for me is well off ALL of your spectrums of suckitude!!
A few highpoints though:

I enjoy it when they win bowl games...but I enjoy it about 1,000 times more when they win a MAC title -- even if it costs us a coach. The trick is to keep a pipeline of good coaches flowing in, and MAC titles flowing out. Yes, it can be done; it's not easy, but it can be done. Life as a mid major isn't always easy, but you can have consistent success (meaning winning league titles). Marshall proved it when they were in the MAC, and NIU has also been pretty successful at it. BG has a modest string of title game appearances going, so the opportunity is there.

I also enjoy winning the MAC Championships more. But I'd lying if I said it wasn't disappointing to see us lose bowl games after we do it. It puts an end to good seasons with a sour note. Had we'd have also beaten Pitt or GSU in 2013 or 2015 it would have been a great way to end the season. Instead they ended with a thud.

The bigger issue for the program right now (much bigger) is to stop losing to their rival, even in years when they're winning league titles. That is totally MENTAL and they need to effect a fundamental change in the locker room. Yes, bowl losses put a damper on a season, to a degree. But let's be honest: when you lose a coaching staff (and you lose them either mentally or physically when they get new jobs), it's pretty hard to win a bowl game. So, if the cost of losing coaches is MAC titles...I guess I'll take a poor bowl record.

But I hate, loathe and despise losing to the scUTs.

I see your point, but GSU also lost its head coach and that was after we lost ours and they simply kicked our @ss. And as for not being able to beat Toledo, I think that boils down to the fact that Toledo has just been better than us. Say what you will or want, but when BG and UT line up and play one another, one team executes and excels (UT) and the other one stumbles and falls (BG). To me, that is a perfect indication of which one is better. Unless Toledo comes out one year and plays poorly like BG always seems to, BG won't beat UT until it is the better team.

I think we've been less prepared mentally. I knew we were screwed this year when that first pass bounced off of Lewis and into the arms of Norrils. They scored and we pretty much folded...a common pattern with the Dino teams. We were better in 2013...we should have beaten them but the officials blew that targeting non call on Johnson at the goal line, we blew it when we let Owens complete that long ass TD pass...how do you have no one between the Qb and their best WR on 4th and 25? and let's not forget that drop by Joplin that cost us...literally...the gamne winning TD. we lost in 2014 because our QB couldn't make a throw and we lost this year because we lacked the mental capacity to win. The talent level this year was pretty equal...when it came down to nut cutting time we didn't come through.

GSU just lined up and kicked our asses...that QB looked like Denard Robinson v2.0, their line run blocked well and their defense didn't have to do much because we kept handing them the football.

I agree, in 2013 we blew it. Don't forget how we spotted them a 21-0 lead or whatever it was and the stupid penalties that killed us. And as you said, in 2015, right off the bat Lewis doesn't haul in a pass that was picked off and before you knew it we were down 30-7. Ballgame. And that's my point. BG seems to come undone and UT finds a way.
