I found this quote interesting front the Hustle Belt article:

Rather than going through yet another coaching change when Babers left for Syracuse, Lewis announced we would make himself eligible for the 2016 NFL Draft.

Is this why he left?

No, I don't think so. I think this sentence is basically just a transition. I think he left because staying longer could add risk - injury and age to be precise.

I would say he left as a combination of new coaching staff, new quarterback, injury risk, and age. A combination of the four make the most sense to me.
