I read this article this morning and felt it was a breath of fresh air. I thought it was pretty spot on about what people are wondering and feeling about BG and I was glad something like this was finally written. It was short but direct and finally one that keyed in with what is going on with this team and program right now.

Kudos to him for asking Kingston. Sometimes you swing for the fence and miss badly. If BG loses to Eastern it has to go down as one of the quickest program meltdowns in recent memory. Young players or not, Eastern is the standard of suck.

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

There's the perfect storm of an inexperienced coaching staff, a roster that is thin on depth and perhaps talent due to having three coaching changes in five years, and a mass exodus of talent due to graduation, transfers and professional aspirations. To lay all of this at the feet of Mike Jinks is short-sighted and frankly unfair. For a majority of G5 programs, you have to pay the piper for success, and Bowling Green is doing that right now. Unfortunately I suspect that next season may not be much different given what we've seen this year and the players leaving the roster.

In the end, Mike Jinks is going to be afforded every opportunity to re-stock the program and recruit the players he wants, much like Dave Clawson was afforded the opportunity. Dino was fortunate enough to reap the benefits of a team deep with talent and added enough pieces in his two years to parlay that into a bigger payday, but I'm not totally sold on the idea that he did much to really help the future of BG football. It sounds insane right now but firing Mike Jinks will likely cause more harm than good in the immediate future of the program.

And yes, I will feel the same way if they lose Saturday to EMU.

A voice of reason....well said bro. I agree 100%. Take it one play at a time, one game at a time. NIU is paying the piper now as well. The two beat downs we took are the worst part of all this but they're in past. Nothing we can do about them no matter how embarrassing they were. BEAT EMU.
