Is this the worst team in BG history?

It is frustrating. There are several good pieces of a team out there. We have our QB, we have some talent at receiver, the running backs come to play every week, the offensive line is playing as well as they can given the injuries. I would say this offense is far from the worst in the last couple decades. But this defense just cannot stop anybody. Even the 2006 and 2010 defenses had some games where they played decent football and kept those feeble offenses in games.
I don't know if it can be pinned on changing DC ever year, lack of talent, lack of size, lack of depth, poor coordination, poor coaching, bad conditioning, or what. Whatever the issue is, fixing the defense has to be the top priority going into next year.

All of the above? The DL got manhandled last night as NIU was consistently getting blockers into the second level of defenders. Some guys were getting run over, others couldn't tackle without another 1-2 players helping out...what a mess. You're not going to win many football games giving up 40+ points every game regardless of how good your offense is. I think the scheme definitely stinks but if you don't have any talent on that side of the ball it isn't going to matter what defense you deploy.

I don't have the final stats but I know late in the game we were giving up 6 a carry. If we could improve in one area, it has to be run defense. If it means putting 8 in the box and playing pass defense via pass rush, so be it. You just cannot win games when the opponent runs that well. They can pick up first downs, put together long drives, and chew up the clock.

Right about our DL...they haven't gotten pressure on the QB at all this year as well.

Worst team in BG history? No. Worst team in the modern era of BG football? Depending on how you define "modern"... probably.

I define modern as the moment Bowling Green moved up from Division II to Division I in the Doyt Perry era. This might be the worst team since then. Maybe. Let's see how they finish, though.
