Re: Valdez to Transfer
Syracuse was my first thought as well. Will be interesting to see where he lands. I wish him the best. Still the best up-man kick return I've ever seen (Camellia Bowl).

He is a Business Education major. I have trouble believing this is about a degree as BG is tough to beat in the education field. Loyalty is a BIG factor with me, so as they say, " Don't let the door hit you............."!
Re: Valdez to Transfer
My guess is that it is not about degree, but about playing in a program where he can be successful. If you recall, last year's defensive scheme's were
all over the place, and the LB coach was not well liked.

Moving to P5 may be good for him since he'll more than likely move to Safety or Outside LB where he isn't so undersized. It's possible that this young man preferes not playing middle. This kid is playing under his 3rd Coach and I have seen comments about loyalty, come on Man!

Re: Valdez to Transfer
Excellent point FalconPatriach...the kid has a five year window to largely determine the course of the remaining five decades or so of his life. That gets him and anyone else in his situation a ton of leeway with me

Re: Valdez to Transfer
Nothing against Valdez, but it's a dumb rule. You want to transfer for a 5th year, you should have to drop down to FCS. Football and Basketball players are catered to with full tuition, meals, housing, tutors etc. They are more than welcome to transfer but they should sit out a year or be forced to transfer down a level. Most FBS schools including BG lose a lot of money because of all the benefits they give these kids.
I have a friend who works in the front office of an NFL team. He said it's culture shock for rookies. Some are extremely irresponsible because in college someone basically holds their hand or does everything for them. It takes them awhile to realize they have to do their job or they'll be released.

Let's be frank..kid's today aren't as smart as they were in my day. My Dad used to say the same thing...he was wrong though...

I wish the guy well at Syracuse. I hope he plays hard for Coach Babers. I'm glad he's at least staying in orange!
