NW is where I received my Masters. NW is the 'sleeper pick' to win the BIG14. I would say BG would have a better chance wining against MOO U.
Also see a loss to the Blue Raiders. Think we will best NIU only because it's a home game.

Re: Early August 2017 Prediction Thread
NW will be a very solid team...MSU, despite all the trouble, is still a big physical team. I think we split with the BiG ten, beat SD and MTSU is a toss up. Give them the edge being home.
Other wins...Akron, Ohio, Kent State, Buffalo & EMU. NIU, MU and tsun are all toss ups and can go either way. We must get over that mental block with tsun and I think Coach Jinks gets the rivalry already. Clawson and Babers didn't emphasize this game enough. We MUST stop the streak this year or the series is tied at 39-39-5. F that.
I really try to look at the team and program from a distance and take my Orange glasses off. We can finish anywhere from 4-8 to 8-4. Cut down the turnovers and we can add 2-3 wins just there.
I am excited and optimistic while realizing we have a ton of work to do. But the recruiting has been very solid by many accounts and we are a championship program. It may take another year or two to get back to the top but we will be a tough out this year.

Re: Early August 2017 Prediction Thread
My take, minus scores.
Sparty L
SD W
NW L
MTSU L
Akron W
Miami L
Ohio L
NIU L
Kent State W
Buffalo W
Toledo L (ugh)
EMU W
5-7 (4-4)
I think BG will be an improved team from last year, but the quality of opponents out of conference and improvements made from some MAC East programs will make it difficult to break .500.

Re: Early August 2017 Prediction Thread
I started to type up my predictions, then saw this & realized it's almost exactly what I came up with. In fact, it IS exactly what I came up with, but then I decided I would put on my orange-colored glasses & give us one win in that Miami/Ohio/NIU stretch (not sure which one we'll win, but I like to think we will win one of them).jpfalcon09 wrote:My take, minus scores.

So, I'm going with 6-6 (5-3 MAC).

3-9 at worst and 7-5 at best.

Re: Early August 2017 Prediction Thread
I'm actually a bit surprised at the lack of faith in the quarterback play of James Morgan. Last season, it felt as though Knapke hampered his development, and it seems to me that Morgan will be fantastic this season as long as the offensive line gives him time to throw the ball. The kid is an unbelievable talent, and he's only entering his Redshirt Sophomore season. I think this kid is going to be special when it's all said and done with.

USA Today has released their predictions for all 130 FBS teams. BG picked to go 6-6, 5-3 in conference.

Re: Early August 2017 Prediction Thread
I like it. It's a definite improvement from this past year, but we still have a ways to go. WIth our non-conference, it feels like we have 2 or 3 "guaranteed" losses, so going 6-3 in the other games is something positive, in my opinion.jpfalcon09 wrote:USA Today has released their predictions for all 130 FBS teams. 6-6 5-3 is my honest guess but which are the 5 and which are the 3 I have no idea. I only want UT to be one of the 5.

Re: Early August 2017 Prediction Thread
@Miami worries me as much or more than any conference game this year. That's the one MAC game I look at and think "oh boy"...It's Miami..F them.
We could be a very surprising team if Morgan can cut down on the INT's. 2nd year in the system...saw a lot of action last year. He should do that.
He'll have a legit downfield threat in Guyton...with the defenses focused on Miller and Guyton that will give guys like Redding and Wilcox a chance to shine
I don't think the defense will be nearly as bad as it was at the start of the season. Bozeman developed into an all MAC caliber guy last year, Garth will be a big help..we get Stephens back . LB is a bit of a worry with Valdez gone...but he slipped a bit last year and there's guys ready to take his spot.
I think we're 75% likely to be a fringe bowl team and 20% likely to be a stunningly good team that's shopping for a coach again and 5% likely to suck worse than last year
