Jinks.....Hahahahahahaha

Post by CrazyFan »

Yes. I'm back. I told you all Jinks was a terrible coach last year and needed to be fired, and look where we sit now. What a freaking joke he is. What a freaking embarrassment he is. Softy Moose won't fire him. Will probably offer him an extension after this game. Time to sit in the MAC basement for a few years. Thank you Jinks. Stick to high school football where you belong my friend.

I agree that he is in over his head and should not have been hired. That said, I don't really find it funny that he has reduced BGSU to a basement dweller. Unfortunately, BG's athletic dept doesn't have the money to dismiss him early. We are stuck with him through the duration of his contract.

Jinks appears to be a good recruiter...and there's no doubt that he's a smart guy who seemed to understand what the issues were coming into the season . He was a very risky hire to begin with and the hope was he had the skill set to grow into the job.

Falling behind 21-3 and eventually losing to an FCS school suggests otherwise. Unfortunately.. dstubbs is right...we cant afford to fire him at the end of the year (firing him now is off the table for a number of reasons) so we're stuck. We have to hope something clicks or we're going to have to watch him twist in the wind for a couple more years

But they can afford to pay someone 500k with no track record because welp that's what other MAC schools pay ](*,)

I think Jinks is a good man with his heart in the right place and he knows how to diagnose where we are vs where we need to be. However I see no relevant experience leading me to think he can build a program.
We knew Clawson could build. He had done it twice before. So when we needed a build almost a decade ago, we knew we had the right guy. We need a build again. All we know is Jinks can be a high school coach and he understands the Texas Tech offense.
This all comes back to my main issue leading to the Jinks hire. Kingston had tunnel vision wanting to keep the offense and so he statistically led himself to wanting a Texas Tech guy and nobody else. He immediately tunneled into a small pool from which to hire. The process was all wrong so the hire seems all wrong.
I'm not laughing. Nor am I crying. I'm just apathetic now.

Hey guys last time I checked Clawson, has been gone for years! We have hired several coached since and its still Clawson you talk about. Coach Jinks is not that bad of a guy or coach. Sometimes its talent! I believe we have the talent to win its just a matter of confidence, maturity and attitude.

Let the guy grow and get behind him and the team now, then evaluate at the end of the season.

I just don't like playing these bigger schools just for the revenue. Most mac school take a defeat in these games. Going 1-3 or 2-2 does nothing for the teams morale. Play a softer schedule prior to the MAC is a way to get back on top. I just don't like being a punching bag for the power 5. This all will change I believe in a few years and we can get away from playing this type of schedule.

A softer schedule, you mean like playing an FCS school? Okay, tried that an had an embarrassing loss. The problems with this team begin and end with the coaching. Jinks was what I would call a "flier hire" -- they took a huge chance on someone whose resume wasn't even good enough for a MAC assistant, let alone a head coach.

Now we're paying the price. Unless he can surround himself with capable people who can pretty much run the show, the program will continue to spiral down. Beating Toledo has become a fantasy -- so look for more humiliating losses there. And winning a division or MAC title? Forget it. We'll have to enjoy our past glory for a few more years until the athletic department can let him go without having to pay out a bundle. Hopefully, the next hire is qualified to be a head coach.

A lot of people on this board were fooled by the winning streak to finish the year against piss poor MAC East Teams. We've never been some power in the MAC. Yes we won two MAC titles. The first was a huge upset and one of the few games Clawson won against a team with an above .500 record. The second we beat NIU with essentially their 4th string QB. Personally I think a big portion of our success the past 8 years is we simply beat MAC East teams that can barely complete a pass.
Despite my feelings on this, however, BG supports the football program well enough to continue to compete for titles. Did Babers leave the cupboard bare? Maybe. But it should never look this bad.

I'll only speak for myself. Look back at my state of the program post way back on signing day. I pointed out my skepticism. I praised the coaches for winning late but tempered it with skepticism about the quality of opponents. I praised them for recruiting but you damn well better be able to recruit with a young coaching staff. I was skeptical going into this year so the loss yesterday while humbling was not exactly out of the realm of possibility.

Regroup, don't dwell, move on. There's room to improve everywhere. If the team gels we'll be OK. Surprise me, guys. Knock of a Big Ten team next week and prove me wrong. I would love nothing more than to be singing another tune.

Troll? I've been stating my opinion since before training camp. If you don't have a QB or Coach, you're not winning many games.

Schadenfreude doesn't know nearly as much and he thinks he does about college football.

I have pretty much given up on College football but peek in here from time to time. I think the sport as a whole is broken and boring. The haves are moving aggressively away from the have nots. I have peeked in because I had hoped I would get sucked back in and that I was wrong. On the contrary I think I am unlikely to watch a down of BG football this year and it's possible that it could be ever again.
