Welcome to Norman!

Post by Plano78 »

I do hope that many of the BG faithful make it down to Norman for the game. We've got a beautiful campus we'd like you to see and I think the game should really be fun to watch. I'm sure you'll give us all we can handle.

If you do come down, hit as many tailgate parties as you can, you won't be treated like a stanger. Travel safe, best of luck.

Unfortunately our customary high humidity and temps don't seem to be on tap for Saturday (thank God!).

Weather

Post by topdaug »

From the National Weather Service:
Saturday: Partly cloudy, with a high around 92.
I guess there is a chance it will be hot and humid...we'll see....there's also a slight chance of showers in the evening, so it will be muggy during the day...who knows how bad it will be at 11 in the morning though...

Enjoy your stay in Norman....everyone is definitely pumped up for this game....

It won't be overly muggy by any means. Dewpoints will be in the mid 60s--something you are very used to on warm summer days in NE Ohio.

I think it is funny that I have noticed on some Sooner Boards that all their fans think that hot and humid weather will be such a huge advantage to OU. I invite any Sooners to boomer it up in BG for a summer. . .

I've been through two-a-days in the Cincinnati area, which I find to be a lot warmer than BG, and have been living in Oklahoma since I've been going to college here....so far, the weather here has been much worse...a history teacher of mine explained why it is so muggy on this part of the state, and that is because there were a bunch of manmade lakes put up in Oklahoma to stop the constant droughts and make the land more farmable (of course, these lakes predominantly went up in the East, and the worse problems were out on the West part of the state)...that explains the humidity, and the heatis basically because of our location...this summer, it hasn't been as bad as others, but it has still been hot every now and then, and every time it's hot, it has seemed pretty muggy.....I guess we'll know on Saturday what the weather is going to be like, because around here, it seems like the weathermen never get it right.....

topdaug, you haven't a clue.

That has virtually NOTHING to do with the humidity in Oklahoma. Your history teacher is incorrect. Very incorrect. Virtually all humidity in the east of the Rocky Mountains comes from a subtropical airmass that persistently feeds from the Gulf of Mexico. BG has much of the same airmass, beit not as long through the year, and quite a bit cooler temps. Your summertime "relative humidities" in BG and Ohio will typically be higher than Oklahoma because of the cooler conditions coupled with dewpoints pretty consistent to those in Oklahoma.

By all means wear your colors. You wont get anything thrown at you or on you like you might in some places.

Come by the many tailgate parties. Those guys will treat your right.

There may be a few smack talkers. Ignore them.

Most OU fans are considerate of our worthy opponents.
