Teo making an impression in mini camp.

Post by naandre »

"Sticking with the receivers for a moment, Teo Redding -- a name even the diehards don't know -- had a monster practice. He beat Amari Coleman on a bomb down the left sideline, then sprawled out for another bomb down the right sideline against Stefan McClure. Redding, an undrafted rookie out of Bowling Green, is facing the same difficult situation as Billingsley. There might not be a deeper receiver corps in the NFL than Detroit's, which is a huge roadblock for reserves like these guys, even if they do practice well. "

And for good measure, The Detroit Free Press:

♦ One player who's caught my eye two-thirds of the way through minicamp is undrafted rookie wide receiver Teo Redding. Redding had the highlight of Wednesday's practice when he made a diving catch along the sideline from quarterback Matt Cassel. A Michigan native and Bowling Green's second-leading receiver last year, Redding has made a handful of nice catches this week and has decent size at 6 feet 1 and 181 pounds. There's no clear-cut favorite for the No. 5 receiver spot, but Redding at a minimum looks like practice-squad material.

Redding was used as a punt returner in the Lions practices over the weekend. He only did that once for the Falcons.

The Lions PR last year, Jamal Agnew ,lead the league...nice that they seem to be fully exploring what Redding can do for them though

The Lions haven't updated their projected roster but both newspapers in Detroit think Redding will make the 53 man roster. Hoping he does.

The Lions play the Raiders tonight at 1030 on NFL Network. Hoping to see Redding catch a few passes.

The most recent projections I've seen have the WRs only keeping 5 WRs and Redding NOT on that list.

I watched my first Lions game last night to watch my boy Bake shred 'em. Redding didn't see a lot of targets, and the QB play for the Lions was pretty bad most of the night, but Teo did haul in the best play of the night for the Lions. Didn't have much separation but showed off exactly the elite ball skills that I thought deserved him his shot in camp. High pointing a deep ball for a 35-40 yard pass.

I still think Teo, with those ball skills and his SPARQ numbers, could have a future in the NFL. He may not make a roster this year, but WR is a position where you can sit on the practice squad for a year or two before you finally get into games and can make some plays. Hope he sticks it out, kid has some nice skills.

Teo did not make the practice squad either. Hopefully he will catch on with some team somewhere next year.

I saw a blurb about him somewhere online...said Teo was too one dimensional...that all his plays seemed to come on sideline routes downfield. Lions are DEEP at WR...so he was passed up by Brandon Powell who looked very effective in the slot

Powell was also effective returning kicks, so that clearly played in his favor as he can also serve as a backup at two other positions.
