The 2015 MAC Championship game was the last BG football game I’ve seen in person. Last trip to the Doyt was a few weeks earlier when we faced Toledo. I more or less have boycotted the program ever since the 70-point defeat at Memphis early in 2016.

I was one of the biggest Falcon fanatics that you would find anywhere from 2005-2015. I went to every home game and hit a bunch of the road games when possible. I breathed and bled orange and brown. I was proud to be a Falcon. We had our ups and downs before finally reaching the top of the mountain but one thing never changed, I was proud to be a Falcon and support my university every time out.

Now, 2015 seems like a lifetime ago. It’s to the point where it’s actually stunning that I never gave any thought whatsoever into going to today’s game, and didn’t even check the score until now. This is BG vs Miami for Christ sake, one of the 2 biggest games of the entire year. But all I can say is, thank God I no longer care.

Thank you Mike Jinks for destroying my love of BG football so completely that it went from being my number one passion on fall Saturday’s (and November weeknights) to being so much of an afterthought that I don’t even think about it for fear of complete and utter embarrassment in my university. You are a complete and utter failure who has brought humiliation to my beloved Bowling Green. If I were a rich donor or benefactor, you would be gone tomorrow. Get the hell away from my university!!
I think many BG alums feel somewhat similar.

Since I moved to Alabama I have been lucky. Seems like just about every season we have one road game that is a reasonable drive. Troy, Florida, Mississippi State, Tennessee, bowl game in Montgomery, Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee and Memphis. I look forward to these games all summer. Right now I dont think I could stomach driving to Atlanta to watch us get pummeled.

The first thing he mentions is changing the offensive line, both with personal and scheme.

“I thought from the beginning of the game, we couldnt protect the quarterback and we’ve got to do a better job of that. We’ve got to get some other guys in there, and we’ve got to look at what we’re doing from a scheme standpoint because we have too much talent from an offensive stand point to have a performance like that.”

Went to OSU v Tulane today. The idea of going to a BG game that doesn't somehow happen in Columbus is absurd to me. There is nothing that compels me to do so. I would much rather see them get rid of the team and funnel money into basketball and hockey and try to build competitive teams there.

Any chance in the world Jinks will resign to avoid the professional embarrassment of being fired?

I'm fairly certain that any personnel adjustment will not come until after the season, so I'm not going to worry about it at this point. I'm sure it will continue to be a topic of conversation the rest of the year, but we won't likely get an actual answer on that until late November.

On to the next one. Let's do our best and somehow pull this upset in Atlanta. Beat GT!

Often coaches are fired mid season and an assistant takes over. It shows the alums that the administration is taking the issues seriously. It also allows the AD an opportunity to scout and interview quickly.
In the MAC in 2013, EMU fired Ron English and advanced Stan Parrish, the OC with HC experience, to HC. Everybody knew he was an interim and not a long term replacement. Then they hired Creighton in December and his first game was fall 2014.
So yeah, these things happen during the season. You don't hire a new guy until off season. But you get rid of your current guy during the season in some circumstances, where it is painfully evident the current head coach is the wrong guy. Like when USC fired Lane Kiffin on the tarmac in Phoenix after a loss to ASU and left him there. I think our situation qualifies.

Right, I know it happens most other places. I just see no path to that occurring here. I truly don't think there are funds or motivated donors. If there were, I feel like "it" would have happened already.

We played 3 P5 schools. Two on the road. That gives us AT LEAST 2.25 million plus whatever profits we gained with our home game against Maryland. Those money games give us enough money to fire Jinks today. Just pretend we played lower level schools with no money games. Forget these money games for a moment and use those funds for the buyout. Even with his buyout we still have more than 1 million remaining. If we had ZERO money games this year then yes he probably couldn't do the buyout but we have the funds and should use them immediately after the upcoming GT debacle.

OOC revenue this year. Not as much as you might think. I pulled this from an old BGSU release earlier this year.
900k @ Oregon
(150k) Maryland 400k each for the 2:1 @ Maryland(next 2024)
(350k) EKU
900k @ Ga Tech

I take this as a sign that he’s been granted a medical redshirt and he’ll be back next year.
I talked to David during the team walk...His words "I WILL be back. Bank on that". dude is a good player and It sux he's lost for the season.
