BGSU assistant ---> NFL head coach

Post by threestooges »

Random topic: How many BGSU assistant coaches have gone on to become NFL head coaches? Off the top of my head, I came up with the following list:

Vance Joseph
Steve Spagnoulo
Steve Wilks

Have there been any others? I'm guessing yes, but I can't think of any others off the top of my head. Anyone?

If Campbell wants to head in that direction he could very well be the next on that list. He's a hot name in this year's coaching carousel.

I'm not convinced that he'll go that route though...so tough to build an NFL coaching staff when you have no connections to the league, really. But the man clearly can coach. I think the NFL rumors right now are more about his agent leveraging him for A) more money at ISU and B) bigger collegiate jobs.

If OSU was smart...they negotiate Urbie on out of there and go after Campbell. That program is shaky right now..

As shaky as a 10-1 program still playing for a conference championship can be.

Paper tigers...they've had issues with the defense and the OL all year and could easily be at four losses right now (squeaked by Nebraska, Maryland and Penn State) instead of one. Combine that with the off season turmoil and the talk of ill will between Urbie an the AD and now renewed concerns about his health. They are primed for a fall

If Harbaugh doesn't roll into Columbus and throttle them this weekend he's going to prove all the critics that have called him a choker correct. They're sitting there like a big fat whale waiting to get harpooned

11-1, playing for a Big Ten title and a potential playoff spot on Saturday after beating their rivals by 23 and dropping 62.

Looked pretty solid today, eh?

No question about it...Urbie showed why he is...in my opinion..the GOAT. Off field controversies, top defensive player walks, key units under perform all year leading to close wins over vastly inferior teams...when it counted, none of that mattered. He had his team motivated and ready...he had an offensive scheme in place and he made the halftime adjustments needed.

Harbaugh? Once again he comes up short in the big game...but this wasn't just a case of his team losing. They were broken in the second half. Going to be very interesting to see how they respond in their bowl game and in the off season. Does he finally abandon the old school offense? Does he shuffle the coaching staff?

He's been a cash cow for UM and the optics of a change after a 10-2 regular season...when going in many thought they'd be looking at 8-4..aren't great, so I don't think he's in any immediate jeopardy. But he HAS to beat OSU at home next year or the heat will be much much worse
