I live nowhere near NW Ohio. And I'll tell you that people here know BG and MAC football, and BG hockey. Heck, I have an old coworker whose son is potentially college hockey talent and has BG on his radar. College football is popular, even at the G5 level. FCS? Not a thought.

Quick, without looking it up. Who are the four teams in the FBS playoff? What are they seeded? When is the first round?

Now without looking it up. Who is in the FCS tournament? How many rounds are there total? How many have already been played? How many games are left? When is the national championship game and who is still in the hunt?

I bet you did way better on the first round of questions. If they create another division, BG football, and all of MAC football, will be forgotten and there is no getting it back.

And ask yourself. Why have there been so many teams jumping up from FCS to FBS? And why has only one team dropped down?
You may well be right...but I think the demise is coming, regardless. I was hoping to make it more viable economically. Eventually, the cash cow that is TV money will get smaller. I know there are all types of mediums out there hungry for content, but cost is going to be a big consideration, and sports channels are popping up far less than other types (movies, series, etc.) Unless BG can find donors to endow the football program (or conversely, every other sport), it's going to be difficult to sustain budgets well into the future.

Not sure if the MAC has ever really been relevant nationally in Football. It is getting more irrelevant by the day. A forward thinking group of ADs, Presidents and MAC Officials would begin to look at life without FBS football. Eventually the MAC will be forced out, either by an inability to fund programs or from P5 programs breaking away.

Our old coaches did well in bowl games. Wake Forest won a thriller, and Syracuse pulled away from WVU. Good to see Clawson and Babers doing so well.

Yea, wish one of them would have stayed here. $$$$$$$$$$$ ..........Thus we could have avoided the state of disgrace our football program had become.

If you want to continue in d1 it'll always be that way. MAC football is, and largely always has been, cyclical. Sustained success is nearly impossible, and would require an unprecedented string of high quality hires in a row.

No problems with dino or clawson, glad to see both doing so well. I think Babers could be on track to a big time job if next year goes well for him. Hopefully we'll get this reboot right.
