Yeah, Addazio is a good man. I doubt he would stand in the way of this. I don't understand why any coach would - and I think it's really disappointing that Jim Harbaugh would do something like this. Why not do all you can to help kids accomplish their dreams, even if it isn't on your team?roguewarrior wrote:I believe the initial answer is always no. BC wont mess with us, in fact, probably the opposite. Loeffler left on good terms and hired the head coach’s son. Well played L.Flipper wrote:Apparently...the response filed by the team "losing" the player can have an impact. A couple of kids have accused Harbaugh of gumming up their requests by telling the NCAA a different version f events than the player. BC...IIRC...had another QB transfer to Rutgers and his waiver was initially denied. So..maybe they're playing games.

Re: McDonald Waiver
Is there actually any proof Harbaugh did stand in the way? Here's the way I see it. What does the kid transferring have to gain by fibbing about or dramaticizing circumstances? Quite a bit, such as not losing a year of eligibility. What does Harbaugh have to gain? The kid is leaving regardless of how the waiver goes. So I read that with some skepticism.

Re: McDonald Waiver
I can see a coach not helping: if the kid was a PIA and a stone in his shoe, lied, is a d^ck, etc... Everyone seems to assume all of the kids/transfers are a Baker Mayfield type or MJ, looking for a chance.... a lot of them are quite the opposite, so I can imagine a coach not greasing the skids. I cant imagine many spending a lot of time blocking..... but some may carry some anger at a transfer.

Initial waiver denied. Filed reconsideration. Waiting on that decision.Falconfreak90 wrote:Any update on McDonald?

Coach said in his presser today that there would be no real update on the McDonald waiver until gametime.
Personally, I think it seems a little like they already have the answer and they're playing it close to the vest.

I agree and believe the waiver is forthcoming. There is no way Doege gets a waiver and McDonald doesn’t. I’m sure the coaches know he is good to go. They are just not tipping their hat to the other team.

Re: McDonald Waiver
I dunno if McDonald is still practicing with the 1s. If he is, could reasonably assume the coaches know something we don't. Not much benefit in having him doing so this close to kickoff.roguewarrior wrote:mbenecke wrote:Coach said in his presser today that there would be no real update on the McDonald waiver until gametime.

If they can tell this kid no...they can tell anyone no.

Tough decision for Hoffman and VT but.. that five miles made the difference. Also read somewhere they mentioned him not leaving right away as a factor too.

Re: McDonald Waiver
The problem with the transfer system right now is it is all arbitrary. No rules or standards are set and available to understands what qualifies and what doesn't. If the 100 mile rule is set in stone, then schools out west are at a disadvantage due to space. I'm still trying to figure out why Tate Martell was granted a waiver, and even Doege for that matter. It either needs to be a 1 year wait no matter what, or everyone is able to transfer once and be available immediately. The second option could gut teams in the G5, but I am for player empowerment.Tony4BG wrote:Tough decision for Hoffman and VT but.. that five miles made the difference. Those who can't do, teach. Those who can't teach, teach PE.
Re: McDonald Waiver
100 mile rule is about only rule set in stone.
The kid that transferred to Illinois from Georgia didn't get his hardship waiver. I guess Illinois is closest Power 5 to his home but outside 100 miles.
Martell and Doege getting approved surprised me. Baldwin, other OSU QB had his waiver denied and still waiting for appeal.
Definitely is crazy. At least the portal was a step in right direction.

Re: McDonald Waiver
They really need to give people one "get out of jail free card" for their 5 years of eligibility...and then allow graduate transfers because the person has already graduated. That would give players (potentially) two transfers if they need them. After that...nothing. It would simplify and bring sanity to the system.Tony4BG wrote:100 mile rule is about only rule set in stone.

Would be nice. I'd like to see what he can do this year in meaningful games.
