Building a winning program.. TRANSFER PORTAL!!!!!!!

Post by hiway44 »

How to build a losing football team into a winning team?
USE the New TRANSFER Portal! NCAA put this in place to be use BGSU. USE it.

There have been two teams that used this philosophy and proven that it works.
SMU is current in first place and were ranked 15 in last week college football poll
Indian is currently ranked 25 and have used the portal.
SMU picked up 16 players from the portal this year and has completely turned football around at SMU. They have picked up another 8 this year from the portal.

Indian picked up 14 players and will be making the college playoff for the first time in many years.
Winning also helps with your recruiting. Trying to do it the old school way won’t work. Use the tools that the NCAA has put in place to help your program.

I wondered the same thing. I then started wondering if hiway44 meant Indiana and then wanted to know what they were smoking. Indiana is not making the college playoff anytime soon.

Look at BG portal... most, not all, are kids we don’t want (ie character issues). Terry Bowden got canned at Akron because he went the easy way , transferring in G’s from junior colleges. It’s the same thing in the portal, for the most part. Also, you are using a scholarship for one year or two, VS 4 or 5. There is a whole matrix we on the outside are not familiar with, and JC’s and Portal are not the long term answer. Patience Daniel Sahn.
It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.

And if he can do it quickly or we have to wait a couple of years I'll trust his judgement exponentially over that other guy.

I've lived long enough to see the Stolz, Blackney, Meyer/Brandon and Clawson/Babers runs and I realize we have seen some very good football through the years. Thank goodness I didn't grow up to be an Akron fan. Some people on this board need to get perspective and patience, it will happen again.
I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.

It’s a piece of the puzzle for sure, particularly if NCAA ups the max from 25! We need 4-5 year guys first, to stop the future bleeding.
