3 games. 3 games is all you need

Post by MarkL »

https://www.espn.com/college-football/s ... ence-title
Teams in the Mid-American Conference must play a minimum of three games to be eligible to win the league title, commissioner Jon Steinbrecher said Thursday.

The MAC starts its six-game, conference-only football season on Nov. 4, and the championship game is scheduled for Dec. 18 at Ford Field in Detroit. Because of the truncated schedule during the coronavirus pandemic, the conference said that winning percentages will be used to determine divisional tiebreakers, followed by head-to-head results. If needed, the league would then work through its normal tiebreaker process.
Beat UT! Then get covid outbreak and cancel the next three (Kent, Buffalo, Ohio). Then return for Akron and Miami. Beat those two and at 3-0, MAC east champs!!

In all seriousness I hope we don't have to deal with a messy scenarios involving canceled games. Just imagine the outrage of, say, WMU going 5-0 but covid canceling against CMU. CMU goes 5-1. WMU in the title game and CMU having every right to be irate.

This is a complete joke. How would a team having played in only 3 games be deserving to complete for a MACC title??? Why doesn’t the MAC just move the damn MACC back like CUSA did to allow the chance for all games to be played? It’s not like the MAC will send a team to the playoffs for crying out loud. And if you didn’t need the extra time for games it could serve as a bye for teams to prepare for the MACC. The schedule was cut from 8 conference games to just 6 and now you only need to play 3 to get to Detroit? That is beyond stupid. As mentioned above, this almost assures a mess at the end of the year and someone is likely going to get screwed. Brilliant decision by the MAC yet again...

Over in Big Ten land Wisconsin has canceled two games. Not going to be rescheduled. And one of them is against Purdue. A real shame because I was looking forward to the Purdue Wisconsin game. Purdue is 2-0 and would be catching Wisconsin at a fortunate time with the QB out recovering and quarantining from covid. Add a very favorable east lineup - Indiana and Rutgers - along with a tiebreaker over Iowa, and you can see a chance for a surprise Big Ten West champ.

I would go to Indianapolis for the game, if they allow fans. But nope, not likely. And also barring an early delivery date, our second child will be less than a month old then and we'll have our hands full at home! :D

Good luck with the childbirth! I think Ziggy would be an appropriate name, going either way. Very 2020! Best wishes!
It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.

Favorable East lineup? Indiana is tied for 1st in the East and Rutgers is tied for 2nd! Doesn't get tougher than that.

Congrats on the baby! Wishing you the best, Mark.
