Conference shakeup

Post by Germainfitch1 »

I am just curious as to what it takes for a division 1-AA team like Marshall to become a division 1 team.

Would there be anyway to convince teams like Dayton, Depaul and Xavier to join in a conference with us if they had to in both basketball and football. In basketball it would be a step back for each. In football a sizeable step up. Just curious. I think we could sell Cincinnati on being in a conference like that for both sports.

(The entire reason I ask is becuase in NCAA basketball 2005 you can make your own conferences. I added Dayton, Depaul, Cincinnati, Xavier and IPFPW. I think Western Kentucky as well. I think that this sort of thing would absolutely help our basketball squad but cripple our football team that has grown in recent years.)

Xavier and DePaul don't play football at all. Dayton plays nonscholarship I-AA football.

Xavier dropped football in the early 70's there has never been any interest or design to bring it back
