MAC takes one on the chin on Saturday

Post by BGSU33 »

After getting a lead segment on ESPN Gameday yesterday and the attention of the college football nation last season, the MAC essentially laid an egg on Saturday. Ohio was the only MAC team to win on Saturday (42-14 over I-AA VMI), while BG and NIU played tough against Top-25 teams. But as for he rest of the MAC, I was pretty disappointed at the results from the conference as a whole. Hopefully the conference will have a better showing next week.

FYI, NIU played nearly the entire game at Maryland without starting QB Josh Haldi (stress fracture in his foot) and only lost 23-20. NIU had a chance at the end of the game to win it again against the Terrapins. Our game at NIU in a few weeks already has me worried.
GO BG!!!

I watched some of that game as well as the highlights and I wasn't impressed with the Terps at all. They will lose 4 or 5 games this year so NIU holding them close didn't surprise me. Having watched how good Omar was today, we should have no problem running the table in the MAC after watching the other performances. NIU is always a solid team but they lost a lot of starters this year and that will hurt them a lot. The thing we do have to worry about NIU is their ridiculously easy schedule. They have both BG and Toledo at home and the rest of the MAC games are against 3-5 game winning teams from last year (Eastern Mich, UCF, Akron, West Mich, Cent mich, Ball State) while we have to go to NIU and Toledo and then have Marshall at home. So, that being said, the schedule difference makes that NIU game important for us to win. GO FALCONS!!!

Yo, UT's highly touted offense definitely didn't impress me. Yeah lance moore caught 10 passes, but he only finished with 99 yds. Brucey was 20-31 but how hard is that to do when you throw to the flats or even behind the line of scrimmage 9 times out of 10? Those plays gotta be gimme's.
I expected them to look pathetic out there but come on they were down 63-7 in the 4th before they put the jv's in. It's funny to go back and read all the Blade's previews about ut leading up to the minnesota game. I'm clueless as to how their expectations got that high.

Considering the NIU Maryland game yesterday wasn't televised anywhere i find it hard to believe you were watching the game. (Fox Sports Chicago replayed last years NIU victory over Maryland that could have been what you saw)

was hoping to see you guys beat OK yesterday and some other MAC teams win.

If toledo cant find its defense the NIU/BG matchup looks to be even bigger

See you in DeKalb in a couple weeks
