Curious to see how tomorrow goes. Plain as day the department is cutting costs wherever they can. A member of the hockey team was scanning tickets at the gate I came in at. The new parking times are likely a way to fix expenses for the vendor they're using to control traffic flow. We have evidence of groups manning the concessions for fundraising - BGSU isn't directly paying them.
I expect we'll see a big Marshall contingent tomorrow. Would love to get their thoughts on the gameday experience.

Marshall fans will be surprised that the stadium is no longer BYOB like it was in the MAC days for them. Also probably confused on why the Bowling Green sideline changes every 5 years or so. They won’t be surprised when the referee microphone does not work.

When I went to college (20 years ago now) you could earn so much towards tuition by working for the school (work study? I dunno what is called). Is it possible they are doing that for ticket scanners? They still have athletes apply for need based financial aid, and other scholarships besides just their athletic one.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 7:45 am

I wouldn't fault the University for asking athletes to work a game for another sport, either. It's good for PR.

The baseball team was “operating” the stand I went to, with the 100 ft line during the game and the cheeseless cold cheeseburgers.

At last weeks EKU pre-game, a BGSU gentleman issuing extra garbage cans and bags in the parking lot struck up a conversation. He told me “homecoming there are 18,500 tickets sold!!”…… we shall see.

Ticketing site suggests otherwise. West side still has plenty of reserved and general admission available. East side maybe a couple thousand still available. Butts in the seats? Probably way less than that. Every university inflates these figures anyways since they usually give away freebies to their sponsors.roguewarrior wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 8:47 am At last weeks EKU pre-game, a BGSU gentleman issuing extra garbage cans and bags in the parking lot struck up a conversation. No issues with it at all. It's great the programs support each other in that fashion. Just saying you wouldn't see that at another school where funds aren't an issues. They'd contract that out.pdt1081 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 8:39 amWhen I went to college (20 years ago now) you could earn so much towards tuition by working for the school (work study? One of the highlights for me -- actually, it might've been the ONLY highlight -- at the EKU game was that the referee's mic actually worked for the entire game. I've only been going to games at the Doyt for 3 or 4 decades, but that's the first time I can remember there being no issues with the ref's mic.
As for the many other issues around the stadium and on the field, though...
