Brett Gabbert is injured and likely to miss some time for Miami. They begin their MAC slate October 1st, we'll see if he misses any conference action. Could open up the East.

Speaking of Akron, DJ Irons suffered a rather significant leg injury today.

Re: Past and Future Opponents (& MAC Talk)
Akron nearly lost to St Francis. BG lost in OT to EKU. Buffalo lost to Holy Cross. Wow the MAC east is bad.
Wouldn't it be hilarious if the MAC east comes down to the BG / Buffalo game.

I'd like to think we can beat Akron, but clearly, any game on our schedule is a losable game.

Re: Past and Future Opponents (& MAC Talk)
EMU may have ended Herm Edwards' tenure if the NCAA investigation didn't. And who would have thought going into the season the conference's two best non conf wins would come from ... EMU and Bowling Green?

Re: Past and Future Opponents (& MAC Talk)
Through three weeks I think the top two MAC plays both came yesterday. Hillaire's insane catch to tie it, and this ludicrous punt by Akron - https://youtu.be/LGNlyRYkF-8. Which might be something to consider given BG's tendency to punt block.

Re: Past and Future Opponents (& MAC Talk)
I have zero idea how the Mac is going to play out this year. West looks wild with toledo defense being terrible and having some oline struggles. Central was dominated by usa and was getting killed by ok st which was somewhat expected. Other 4 have been a mixed bag including niu and western. East still looks like it will be Miami with Kent chasing. However I think every game is winnable and both divisions should be good races
