What a hire to make after losing your coach in March. I love it

Obviously there is never guaranteed success, but this is as excited I’ve been for a hire at BG in a good long while. I don’t think DVDM will be here much longer with how well he has done in making BG an attractive destination for up and coming coaches.

Hats off to DVDM. I assume he gets hired away soon because he has been a home run hitter. This is an exciting hire to say the least.

He just signed an extension through 2030 so we'll see about that.

A lot may depend on where his family is right now: are the kids still in school and settled, does his wife have a job she enjoys aside from being a mom? Do they blend in well with BG and have they had a good experience there?

Not every coach or administrator is looking only for big bucks to move on.

Yes, it's probably a long shot that he stays for an extended time, but you just don't know.

BG football has long been a launching pad for HC's. Since 2001 we've sent Meyer, Clawson and Babers onto major jobs and Loeffler to the NFL.

Gonna go out on a limb and say George is the first Heisnan winner to be a MAC head coach

Earlier in the hockey season I asked DVDM how much longer he was going to stick around. He got very serious and said something along the lines of the grass ain’t always greener and that who you work for is important. Of course none of that means anything.

His wife was one of the three singers with SWV (Sisters With Voices) and she was a contestant on Survivor. So not the most ordinary coaches wife.

I’d like to see Richard McNutt make his way to BG to coach defensive backs.

He played at Ohio State and has experience coaching in the MAC at Toledo, Kent State, and Northern Illinois. He also coached the Browns for a season.

Seems like a great fit.

Press conference is at 10:30am this morning, should be a link on YouTube and the athletic department website.

They couldn't have put up a branded backdrop or something for the press conference? I mean, not to be nitpicky, but the folded up bleachers aren't exactly a great look.
