He's saying all the right things. Also seeing a lot of current players embracing the hire on social media, including some I thought may head for the portal, so I think it's a really good sign. I still think we're prone to a bit of regression with a new coach, but I'm really excited about this season and beyond. I'm in Chicago and still might have to get season tickets and make the drive a few times this fall.

If Loeffler had stayed, I was waiting to see who we would try and sign from the portal to play QB. With Eddie here, I’m excited to see what he can do with our roster that we have.

I’m not going to talk anymore about upcoming roster in this thread. I’ll start a new one for that.

This press conference is impressive. The name recognition certainly attracted more people to the event. When is the last time we had somebody from Columbus at our press conference?

Press conference was impressive, for sure. I like how Coach George mentioned the NIL and portal and ack it for what it is. But we are going to build and develop. That is major. Gonna renew my season tix today and Falcon pumped up!

Hat tip to Urban for marrying Eddie and Bowling Green on both sides of the coin. I know he gets a bad rap, but it's obvious he still cares about BGSU.

Pretty standard press conference. Light on specifics, which is to be expected. This is a tough situation for everyone involved with spring ball around the corner. I'd expect a decent number of current assistants to be retained for the sake of continuity, with an eye to 2026 for more drastic changes. What was noticeable was the level of enthusiasm present in the building. Attendance should see a healthy increase this season.

Sounds like he's open to keeping members of the current staff in place if the fit is there...that's good for continuity's sake

They'll be selling them online ASAP if they have any marketing brains at all.

I was telling my buddies I think he's worth a couple thousand butts in seats per game before he wins his first game. I feel he's got a leg up on getting us NIL/donation money too; certainly over most MAC coaches. He's instantly the most recognizable coach in the MAC. You don't win a Heisman and put up 10k NFL yards without building a lot of brand recognition.

Hell, like Flipper said, this is the first time I've been excited about BG football in a long time. I'm already planning some fall camping trips around making sure I'm around for the UT home game. I cannot even remember the last time I made BG football a priority in planning my fall Saturdays.

Eddie George played his high school football through 10th grade at Abington High School where both of my daughters graduated from in the 90's. Abington's nickname is the Galloping Ghosts, named for Red Grange who visited Abington when he was at his peak.

I'd like to see a few guys Coach George has history with make their way onto his staff here.

Pepe Pearson would make sense as the RBs coach. Played 2 years with Eddie at OSU. 9th all-time in OSU rushing yards. Former RBs coach at Ohio Dominican, Youngstown State, and Marshall. Also was Eddie’s RB coach at Tennessee State for 2 of his 4 seasons there. He’s at Tarleton State right now. 49 years old, Euclid OH native. Feels like a natural fit.

And Mike Brewster would be my pick for OL coach. He’s 35 years old. Graduated from OSU in 2011 and played 4 years in the NFL. First Team All-American center. Was a GA here in 2019 for Scot. He’s currently the OL coach at Valpo, but he was the TEs coach at Tennessee State for Eddie for 2 years before that. Gettable, young, history working for Coach George. I could see it.

A great interview to watch with Urban and Mark Ingram. I think Eddie is going to bring a lot of excitement and funding to our program.

It was worth watching. They talked about a goal of $2 million in NIL. Having Urban, Mark and Rob be a part of fundraising. Heck, Rob said they should do the Big Noon Kickoff show for the battle of I-75.

Tough not to be excited about the hire of coach George.

Honestly I feel like visibility is half the battle at a MAC school anymore.

Further research, that looks correct. His Wikipedia hasn’t been updated.
