Absolutely embarrassing loss. With that being said, I think the team is fine. They lost the most talent in the country and still beat Toledo so the rest of the season is whatever

Re: @ Kent State (10/25)
It's a shame...the team was riding high with a lot of student enthusiasm after the UT game. Its hard to get that back once it's gone
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Smoke and mirrors only work for so long, eventually it always comes back to substance. Even in the land of social media manipulation. Winning is substance in sports. If they have to tell you they have momentum over and over, they don’t have momentum.
Re: @ Kent State (10/25)
Everyone in the MAC is terrible. Even the “good” teams have lost 3 times this year. What a pathetic football conference.

Re: @ Kent State (10/25)
You’re right. When you step back and look at it you realize this new era is killing the league. The MAC can’t recruit and develop talent like they used to. NIL and the portal make the rich richer. If you can’t raise money you can’t compete.
Re: @ Kent State (10/25)
It’s always going to be like that from now on. To be a fan of the MAC is to shift expectations and realize that when you play 2-3 money games a year, you’re likely going to have 2-3 losses coming out of non-conference play. The days of us thinking we can compete with the Big Ten on a regular basis are over.
As I’ve gotten older, I just enjoy going to a few games a year and taking in the atmosphere. When we lost a game 15 years ago, it ruined my entire weekend. Now, we’ll it doesn’t bother me. I guess that’s personal growth.
I don’t mind the parity in the MAC. I’d rather have that than be in the Big Ten and knowing when you see OSU or Oregon on your schedule, it’s a guaranteed loss.

I would love for BG to contend for the MAC Championship, but if that isn’t going to happen, then yes, I’ll take the win over Toledo.

That was beyond embarrassing. I’m not surprised that BG lost, but I am surprised at how they did it. Well, welcome to rock bottom. Another putrid season but hey, at least BG beat Toledo. That seems to be all anyone really cares about anyway….SMH….

It won’t contend for MAC Championships, it’s focused on impressions. It’s Ohio St Jr. and the Jr. is like 1% the care or effort of Ohio St. The AD will use the impressions and smoke to effort a bigger paycheck and new job. We’ve seen this type of pony show at BGSU before just in a much different era. The MAC has never actually been easier to win. It stinks. Just hire a real football coach and you’re in it. Loeffler even got them somewhat close to the mix. Now you’re losing to Kent St the same Kent St who literally couldn’t care less about football. Time for a new team pet.
Re: @ Kent State (10/25)
That is such a cop out statement to make. Of course most MAC school have 3 losses, look at number of P4 teams most of them have to play in the non-conference nowadays. In this day and age, it's almost a given. But there's CLEARLY a divide between the good teams/programs in the MAC, and the piss pour ones. The good programs in the MAC (Ohio, Miami and Toledo) have manage to navigate all the changes in the college football landscape in the last decade and remain on top. They continue to reload while competing, contending and and winning this league. BG has not. In the past decade BG, has flipped and floundered to just fight to stay above the bottom of the barrel. Last year was one season where BG was at least in contention towards the end - but less us not forget - a big reason why was because BG also avoided Ohio on the schedule last year, a team which has flat out owned BG for the last decade, thus allowing BG to be in the position it was because it avoided another loss that would have taken it out of the spot it was in. And in one of the biggest games in a decade for BG, Miami stymied BG in its biggest moment, sending BG back to the drawing board.
Think about this for a moment, as we turn the calendar to November, with just 4 games to go, BG is looking up at BOTH Kent State and Akron in the standings right now after losing to Kent State. Yes, that Kent State and Akron from the last few years - which no look like they have both even surpassed BG this year. Let that sink in for a minute. What's goal is left for BG this year, trying to avoid staying in front of UMass? Yesterday's loss was just flat out brutal in a number of ways. Blowing that big of a second-half lead, to that team, in the state of where this program is, was simply devastating. BG lost more than just a game yesterday. That kind of loss carries the kind of weight to break open a team with a glaring fracture. BG couldn't afford that type of a loss yesterday for a number of reasons. There's a difference between being a troll or a naysayer, and someone not afraid to state facts that people don't want to hear or admit. BG football hasn't been in a good place for much of the past decade. And I'm beyond sick of seeing it being in the rut its been in with still no end in sight, while we see teams like Ohio and Miami continues to thrive. BGSUCKS....

Fer crisssakes, it's the first year of a brand new coach who inherited a team with something like a 50% turnover rate (I don't know what the number is, I just know it's a lot). JFC, even us hockey guys gave Willy a honeymoon his first season. Geez. And I don't read those essays either. Learn to be more terse and less verbose.
Personally, for me, a hockey non-football guy, if we beat Toledo it's a successful season no matter how you want to dissect it. I don't give a crap about what has or hasn't happened since 1997, we beat the one team we absolutely had to beat. So F^@$ those guys.

I felt very badly for May. We was visibly upset as they wheeled him off after what looked like a torn Achilles. You spend your whole life working towards a goal and to see it almost certainly end like that..it's tough

Re: @ Kent State (10/25)
Same. I thought he played an efficient game. Made me feel a bit better going into Buffalo that perhaps he could do enough to move the ball. Now it's probably Pyne to finish out the season less than 100%.
Bowl game is still in reach which I know no one really cares about any longer, but the extra practice time for the staff would be huge. Looking beyond the season, it's going to be a very important winter for recruiting and hitting the portal hard to address the skill positions and lack of depth across the roster.

I thought May played a decent game. Attempted some throws down field into tight windows too, that opens things up underneath. Rough way to finish for him.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 26, 2025 12:26 pmSame. I thought he played an efficient game. As to the state of the program bowl games are always a big deal to keep practicing. And yeah, on the whole new coach, new roster no shame in a rough season with a win over UT.
I just despise pansy football. I know people complained about Loefflers 4th down aggression but it was one of the only things I really liked about him. Unless it's a low time game winning situation I'd never kick a fg on 4&1, ever. Line up and get the effing yard.
I still have hope for George, he's a young coach still learning too. But he better learn from that loss.
