@ Eastern Michigan (11/8)

Post by mbenecke »

For the final Saturday game of the year, our Falcons (3-6, 1-4 MAC) next head to Ypsilanti, MI to take on the Eastern Michigan Eagles (2-7, 1-4 MAC) in a highly anticipated that tens or even dozens of people will be tuning in for.

Look, we're not very good, especially on offense. Our current identity is... the lack of an identity. But I hope the boys are going to keep fighting - they finish with 2-7 EMU, 3-6 Akron, and 0-8 UMass, so they still have a shot to play their way into a bowl by winning out. I don't have a lot (or any) faith in that, but it's what's on the table. That extra month of practices that come with a bowl trip would be huge for the program to build on going into next year, which should certainly be better with a full offseason cycle for this staff.

Game is Saturday, November 8 at 1:00pm. It'll be shown on ESPN+. We only get 12 of these a year. Might as well tune in, right?

Go Falcons.

I live closer to EMU than I do BG..toying with the notion of heading up for this one. Gregg Brandon once compared the aesthetic of Rynearson Stadium to that of a prison .

Who doesn't want to see that?

Well, a big development going into this one:

BG has relieved Travis Patridge of his OC duties.

Wager on Anderson or Najm starting. Eddie was pretty coy on Drew's status and was pretty blunt about the limitations the offense had with him behind center.

If I were anywhere close to there I would consider going just for the gray turf. Any time I turn on a game from there where EMU is wearing gray and the road team is wearing white, I think the color went out on the TV.

Been to Rynearson a few times...tough to survive when Ann Arbor is 15 min away. Always empty and dark. lol

Coach George always talks about guts and overcoming adversity. Here is a golden opp to do that. Finish the season fighting for every yard....it will pay off in the future.

When the sked was announced, I was planning on making the trip. Then our next door neighbor's daughter announced her engagement and wedding for Nov 8 at 3. So, I'll be watching on my phone. If it's ugly, no need to watch the replay.

The Ziggy perps appear to be suspended as they're listed as out. Pyne is questionable. Lucian off the injury list so I assume he's starting.

4th QB in 9 games. I’ve never seen a QB room at BG this injured.

Not sure how much we'll be able to learn about the new OC situation. Just gotta lean on the culture and keep fighting in a game like this one.

7-0 EMU.

The wish list for the transfer portal is going to be substantial, and it's going to start in the trenches.

Explosive kick return. Explosive pass play that gets wiped out by a penalty. Explosive touchdown run.

7-7 game.

DLine playing well. LBs and coverage not as much.

Offensive play calling does seem better. Appreciated actually seeing a downfield throw to Sharp on the first drive, even if it didn’t convert (and maybe could’ve been a DPI).

Not really sure how they picked up the flag on a clear penalty on the Najm sack. About as much contact with the helmet as you can have.
