Michigan is said to be close to hiring former Utah coach Kyle Whittingham. Given the state of the athletic department an football program, that's probably the best they can do
He’ll turn 67 years old during the season next fall. Certainly not a guy who will be around for long, but a guy who can install a culture reset for a place that badly needs it.
He’s a good coach. His longevity at Utah is probably the most impressive thing about his resume. I don’t think he raises their ceilings from what they’ve been most of the past quarter century. 3 conference titles in 20+ seasons at Utah. Went 5-7 just two years ago and seemed like he was going to be retiring, only to stumble into this gig. I imagine he will win 8-9ish games a year there for the next 3 or 4 years (if they don’t have a mass portal exodus, as the interim alluded to recently) and then they’ll be starting over again.

Ryan Day....to the Browns?
Is this why the kids are fleeing Columbus?
This hasn’t been reported by anyone reputable. And they haven’t lost anybody that was supposed to start in 2026. So I can’t imagine that’s the case.
True...kinda odd that there's been zero speculation about the Browns gig...
Mike McDaniel
They'll get the sloppy seconds of anyone the other teams passed on.
The moron hillbilly owner fired a good coach because he can't wait out a rebuild.
Also he is apparently in love with his DC who proved a decade ago he has no business as a HC, so he's either goign to make him the HC or handcuff anybody else by forcing him to stay on as DC.
Same in Cleveland as it ever was.
It is hilarious to me though that the worst coach in the division is the one still employed.

The Bengals are managed worse than the Browns. Good ol' boys network. Mike Brown has more interest milking ticket and merch sales with Burrow and company than he does winning a Super Bowl.

Bengals have most playoff wins of AFC North teams in last 8 seasons. This is a tired narrative.

Thomas Hammock is leaving Northern Illinois to become an assistant for the Seattle Seahawks. So, there's another college HC job open.
NIU is rolling with DC Bob Harley as their interim for this season.
I don't think it was mentioned here but Trenton Greene was named defensive coordinator at Northern Arizona after spending last season as a corner coach for Montana state.
Cool to have our last championship era currently produce an offensive, defensive, and special teams coordinator
I'd say he's qualified to teach tackling. The defenses he played on were not very good. He was the one guy that didn't miss tackles. When you saw a collision in a pile where you couldn't tell who was involved and the offensive guy went backwards, you knew it was Trent Green that hit him.
I wonder what his brother Travis is doing these days? Anybody know if he's in coaching or still involved in football in some way?

Are you talking about Matt Johnson, Alex Bayer and Trenton Greene?
Jahmal Brown is the new UT DC.
Matt Johnson is the OC for SD State
Bayer is the STs coach for Syracuse
At some point they may all be in consideration here for the head role.
The Northern Arizona team is led by Brian Wright. He's a former Toledo OC and I assume would be in the mix here next time as well.
