Totally selfish questions about the schedule

Post by 1987alum »

Our schedule stinks. OK, I said it.

Anyway, after holding my nose and looking it over, the Ohio U. game looks like the most attractive option for the Philly Falcons. So, a few questions ...

Now, the game is being played while students are on break. Does that mean the FMB will be absent? Also, how many of our AZZ.com stalwarts would be MIA because of the break?

It looks like they've lumped the Varsity BG/Hall of Fame thing with Youth Night in an attempt to boost attendance. We've been to Youth Night (Bring a kid to the game, etc.), but what the Varsity BG thing all about?

On a totally unrelated note, do any of BG's hotels have an indoor pool? That's always a plus for me & Noah!

I think the Hampton Inn and the new hotel accross from Meijer's (Best Western or Holiday Inn Express?) have indoor pools.

That's the Holiday Inn and I'm 99.9% sure they do have a pool! Otherwise you could always take a swim in little pond by the rec or even in the rec itself :D

It's a Holiday Inn Express. The one that is attached to the former Kaufman's at the Lodge also has a pool, but I couldn't tell you what that hotel is called now (formerly Holley Lodge, and formerly Holiday Inn).

Hammb, that one is a Quality Inn I think.

I doubt the band will be absent. And if we are, I'll take my sax and play the fight song by my self, dammit.

Ha! I'll come too. But yeah-- I really doubt the band won't be there. But that makes it suck even more; I didn't realize there was a home game during break. :?

Are we getting "screwed"?

Post by Class of 61 »

Most posters have already expressed their discontent with the schedule and I agree...but for perhaps an entirely different reason....

Since BG seems to have become the "swing team" in the MAC re: East/West divisions...and we've been willing to make those switches, should we not have received some consideration re: this year's schedule in particular? Why, for example, couldn't Ball St. come here instead of us going there in Sept.? At least ONE home game in Sept. would've possibly stimulated the football fever that most of us already have. And what's the deal about the kids needing a "break" in Oct.? And then scheduling us for a home game during a time when kids won't be on campus...it sounds as if the "powers that be" in the MAC office certainly didn't do us any favors for our willingness to switch divisions AGAIN!

At least they split up the Kent/Akron home games... this will keep one game in NE Ohio every year, which is good.

You hit the bullseye. How tough would it have been to give us one frickin' home game in September? Like I said, I'm glad Krebs called out the MAC in the press release.

Well then I'll just have to bring a piccolo... and play two octaves above the staff. Think they'll hear me then?

And 61, I was thinking that too. "Gee, so glad we accommodated the MAC by switching divisions again... nice to see they appreciate it..."

Well said, Den. I still can't believe we don't have a home game in Sept.

The Freaks are gonna go to Muncie....all there is to it. If I can make it to 8 out of 11 games with this schedule, I'm happy.

Look at 2004...we had 4 road games outta the first 5!! :x
