Ahhh yes...Snakeman. Hammb hit the nail on the head with his post.

Mooch city, baby. He is a HUGE fan of BG football...but can make a real ass of himself at the games. Last yr at Ohio U, BG was up 27-9 and since we weren't making enough noise (in his opinion), he stated he was gonna start rooting for the Bobkitties. What a schmuck. His language tends to get real bad when the alcohol is in full swing and I don't want him around when the Freaklings are nearby...even if they're not for that matter.

Do NOT make eye contact in the tailgate lots, stadium or a dark alley. He will hunt you down and find you for food, beer or a place to crash.

BTW, Spart43...great meeting you and the Mrs. Saturday. Corey looked awesome and I can't wait to see him for the real deal.
Here's to 4 years of great games!

Bob Niemet and Andy Tracy seemed to do ok as dual sport (football/baseball) athletes. No question, it takes a special person, but I put Corey in that category. Coaches can and have worked it so there is minimal time lost in either sport. No question you have to be a great athlete and a good student to pull it off.

Niemet was one of the best, pure athletes I've ever seen at BG. Heck of a baseball player and very versatile on the football field.

Not sure if anyone has a picture of this, but Brandon was actually wearing the Snakeman's hat immediately following the game. He had it on on top of his visor and it actually looked like he was doing interviews with in on at first, but took it off after a couple minutes.

At first I just thought he was wearing an orange cowbow hat, but after squinting (was at top of westside stands) I saw the snake on the front of it.

I think that is why Brandon stayed at BG....

Yeah I saw that too and wondered what the heck he was wearing. Now I know. The snakeman seems to get heavier in the gut every year.

For how drunk he always is, I never understand how he gets home from away games. I've seen him driving home RIGHT after the games get home. It just boggles my mind how he is still alive!

Niemet is a big time softball player now in the Columbus area. I've been playing against him for the last five years or so. The first game I ever pitched against him, I was all pumped as I was facing a guy who QBd the team while I was at BGSU. He then hit 3 HRs off of me in the game. Ouch. I agree - what an athlete.

Orange guy-

Where do you play softball in Columbus? I played Wednesday nights in Dublin for 6 or 7 years, and then some coed at Berliner the last couple years.

TG1996 -

I've played in Westerville since 1999 (both Hoff & Highlands) and this is where I face Neimet. I've also played at Busch Park off of Bethel Road since 2000. Not to mention many subbing jobs at Berliner, Avery, etc as well as tournaments. I live and work in Dublin, but I've never played full time in a league over here.

Corey was being recruited by several schools for baseball. Indiana was the one that wanted him to most.

Corey is an outstanding centerfielder, he can get to balls that you think are in the gap and pull them in. Then throw out the base runners who thought the ball was a gapper. He was named to the all tournament team at the AAU World Series last summer in Orlando where his team finished 6th.

He considered baseball, but after some discussion it was decided that he came to BGSU to play football and he needed to give that his full attention and efforts. Baseball could be something he can fall back on if he doesn't pan out as a football player, but Football is his #1 priority right now, behind his school work.

Corey has alot of potential, I hesitate at this point to compare him to Cole. Cole was an outstanding receiver that did alot of great things for BGSU. Corey has only caught 6 balls in a spring game. Yes, it is exciting to see him excel when finally given an opportunity and I hope that he can someday be the receiver that Cole was or better, but let's be carefull and just hope he has a good freshman year and gets some playing time and continues to develop and help BGSU win the next 4 MAC titles. We are blessed with a great group of receivers and two outstanding QBs. We have the good fortune to be able to spread the ball around to many different players. That has to be very scary to defensive coordinators, who do you stop, if you do stop one then here comes another. What a great position to be in. Here's to Corey contributing to a great season!

Go Falcons!
