I heard UT had a flood a tail-gait parties and several thousand people at their Spring "game." I don't recall of anybody mentioning that. Granted, they're in the city with a healthy neighborhood population, but they still shouldn't have outdrawn BG by that much. I don't think the student body at BG is really into much of anything. They were a major disappointment last Fall.

No they weren't...they're good kids who are a credit to the city, University and all of humanity. I give them two thumbs up!
If they didn't feel like watching football on a great spring Saturday, that's their business. In my day, I would have forsaken the Doyt for a ringside seat at Mac beach, but that's just me....

Well Good, Flipper, give them two thumbs up, and let them run off to the "MAC beaches" but then stop moaning about attendance at the Spring Game. According to the Newspapers, BG did not have much of an attendance at the Spring Showing (maybe 600 people????) ---- that's what everybody is moaning about in these threads. Clearly the students weren't there.

I think students get criticized too much here.Dr. Bucko wrote:Well Good, Flipper, give them two thumbs up, and let them run off to the "MAC beaches" but then stop moaning about attendance at the Spring Game. There were plenty of students there -- proportionately, the crowd was the usual mix. And students were by far the loudest (even if it was for medical reasons).
We get good student support at games.
If we are ever going to start selling out games to the point where we need more seats, we aren't going to do that with student support. We will do that by getting more alumni to come back, and getting more casual fans in Northwest Ohio more interested.

You must have me confused with some othe whiner...I've yet to complain about the sping game attendance.Dr. Bucko wrote:Well Good, Flipper, give them two thumbs up, and let them run off to the "MAC beaches" but then stop moaning about attendance at the Spring Game. I think the whole issue is kind of dumb. I don't know that there's a correlation between spring and fall attendance and even if there was, complaining about it here is preaching to the choir.
I contacted some UT people today and they said the crowd at the UT game was estimated at between 5000 and 6000 thousand fans with one of the parking lots completely full. It was mostly a tail-gait affair, however, and advertised as such. --- Make out of it what you will. I don't know that it's all that important.
