I probably won't make it to the end, but because the game was on here in Tucson at 2 AM, I thought I'd try to stay up long enough to get a look at Magner in the red and black.
The game is currently in the 2nd qtr., and although Cole hasn't played yet, I will say this: the Falcons would be stupid not to make Cole a starter. I've never seen a bunch of sorrier (is that a word?) recievers on an NFL squad. These guys don't have half the catching ability that Cole does. Period.
I'll post some more updates once Cole does get some PT.

It is not my intention to do away with government. It is rather to make it work - work with us, not over us; stand by our side, not ride on our back. Government can and must provide opportunity, not smother it; foster productivity, not stifle it. ~Ronald Reagan

Halftime and the Falcons are down 14-13. Two notes:
(1) Matt Schaub is a killer pocket passer. Much better than Vick. In my worthless opinion, the Falcons may want to look into somewhat of an unbalanced platoon at the QB position. I don't know how well this might work against NFL defenses, but Schaub is very, VERY accurate out of the pocket whereas Vick is hit-or-miss. This seems to me like it would be a great series-to-series combo - it may keep defenses on their toes and give Vick's legs an added advantage. When he's in the run is always a threat. When Schaub is in, the passing game is in tow.
(2) Peerless Price made a couple of great catches. He looks like he is playing out of his mind right now. I suppose that is what $14 m. for two sub-par seasons gets you, though. He is the only reciever that has stood out to me.
I'm anxiously awaiting the second half. I can't WAIT to see "Sunshine" catching passes in Japan!

Cole just fair-caught a punt. Totally sweet. Wierd to see him wearing #15, but sweet nonetheless. 2:50 left in the 3rd qtr. and still waiting to see him at WR. Always good to hear Bowling Green mentioned on national television - even if it is at 4:30 in the morning!

Cole was in for two plays on the Falcons' last series. Both were running plays and Cole never came close to the ball. I must admit that I am very dissapointed in the playing time that he recieved in this game. If he truly was told that he would play most of the 2nd half by Mora and his staff, he was egregiously lied to.
I hope he gets a better chance than this. I'm going to bed.

Woke up at 6:00 AM here in Ohio - watched the game from the 2nd qtr on. Bleeding does a good job summing up the game. There was a pass to their (Falcons) first rounder in the endzone. Well in his hands and he drops it. My alumni ego says Cole would have made the catch.
Basically - being a free-agent rookie is going to be a hard road to the NFL. Let's just hope Cole's work ethic and some proven skills in camp and a few more pre-season snaps will give him a spot somewhere with the Falcons. Maybe as a Special teams player.... but I am no football guru like the rest of you.

I am thinking the same thing, which is a real shame. With a QB like Vick the Falcons need a WR that can catch just about anything thrown behind, above, and just in the WR's general area.1987alum wrote:Have to say that him not getting significant playing time in this game is not a good sign. He'll need to have a good week in practice, methinks...
