It may not show up in statistics but I think the offense will be much more talented and efficient. The games where it will be noticable will be the tough games like Wisky, Boise, Miami, and Toledo. I also have a strange confidence in the defense. I am sure that in part it is due to me being a greatly optimistic person, but I really like the look of our defensive lineup. I am worried about our linebackers the most. I think the secondary will be a pleasant surprise. Can't wait to find out if I am wrong.
I, too, feel strangely confident in the defense this season. Coach Lovett brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the program and has had big success with his D units at Ole Miss, Auburn and Clemson.
I know a lot of folks are worried about the D but I think it is gonna kick some azz. I think the D has a chip on its shoulder and is out to prove something.
The LB corps need guys to step up. I feel really good about Terrell White. White lost 10 pounds and checks in at 224...the kid can flat out hit!
Winovich, Haneline, Sharpe and the rest also need to step up. Johnson should be ok at the one spot.
The secondary should be OK...not great but not terrible either. It is great to have Perry back there and I was really impressed with Van Johnson the other day at practice.
Our D was the 3rd overall ranked D in the MAC last year. With a little tweaking here and there, it can be even better.
600 hours to go....
