Media Guide Released

Post by jmillerbg »

An electronic version of the 2005 Football Media guide is online at BGSUFALCONS.COM.

http://bgsufalcons.collegesports.com/sp ... guide.html

Future schedule section (in the "Media Info" link) mentions the following games:

2006:
Wisc. (Home)
Boise (Home)
Does not Mention @ FIU (as it was not schedule when printed I assume)

2007:
@ Arizona State
Does not Mention HOME against FIU (as it was not schedule when printed I assume)

2008:
@ Va. Tech.
@ PITT

2009:
@ Missouri

2010:
@osu

Wow.

I haven't looked through the PDF yet, but I think the SID department deserves a HUGE "standing O" for this move. For all the criticism I (and alot of us) have laid on the SID staff (warranted or otherwise), this is an outstanding idea. I don't spend alot of time on other schools official sites, but I don't know that I've seen the full media guide posted for any school before.

I encourage everyone to not only keep it bookmarked to learn about the 2005 Falcons, but take some time to flip through the back pages and learn a little about the history of BGSU Football. I bet you'll be very happy that you did!

(And not only that, but now I don't have to lug media guides with me to work to research stuff for BGSUSports.com!!! :D )

A lot of schools are heading in this direction and pretty soon it will be mandatory and book form media guides will be no more. Schools are dishing out 400 pg. media guides with so much info. for recruits that it isn't even about the season anymore it's basically just a "recruiting guide". The NCAA is cracking down on this. Schools like Oklahoma, Florida State, Notre Dame, Michigan and osu have media guides the size of a phone book. The NCAA sees this as an unfair advantage these schools have the $ and resources to produce these mega guides while smaller schools do not.

Why doesn't the NCAA see the BCS as an unfair advantage???

I really enjoy the media guide every year. BTW, I remember a thread last year saying the NCAA wasn't going to follow thru on that media guide stuff?

The media guides had a 208 page limit this year I believe...and that goes for ALL schools.

that's probably true. I only heard about this right after football season last year and haven't heard anything since.

Remember that the BCS and the bowl system in general are NOT a part of the NCAA. They are a separate entity altogether.

Anyone got a file that has all the mini-sections combined? That's a lot of downloading, lol.

Looks like a nice media guide. I am going to spend some time looking over it the next couple of days. Here is a link to the BSU media guide for 2005 if you would like to take a look.

Looking forward to seeing you all in Boise this year. :D

Well, it didn't make sense to scheduling the home game with Florida International first.

While that may be true, the teams playing in the BCS and bowls are Members of the NCAA.
